lol, in reality the Windows Phone looks like this, runs just fine, and notice the 'flat' style icons Apple just copied from them with this update.

Just saw the lines of people waiting to buy the new iPhone 5S and 5C - wait until they get them and see the huge changes in iOS 7 - probably the biggest change in the history of Apple.

I like it a lot. Runs super smooth on my 4S. I do not care for the opaque folders but I can live with it.

I tend to agree. I've been using Apple devices for a number of years now and I can definitely see a downgrade in quality with each successive new release. First purchase was an iPod, which was later called an iPod Classic, now discontinued. Have also owned an iPod Touch, iPhone 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S, an iPad and now have the new iPad 128Gig Retina. The 3GS was the last good phone Apple made IMO. I wish I had kept mine as a backup. My 4S has had several issues and one which has never been resolved and Apple has twice refused to do anything about it. I'm an old geezer by comparison to many of the young bucks we have posting here and that means I'm old enough to remember a time when Apple had an unimpeachable reputation for building rock solid reliable products. They were expensive but they were worth it. They're still more expensive but their reliability has degraded to be about as bad as any other brand and sometimes worse. Now it seems all Apple cares about is having an image of being hip and trendy and cool. My first iPad packed it in after two days with no abuse whatsoever. The iPhone 5 had issues when it was released, thereby proving they are no different from anybody else. They rush their products to market first and deal with the fallout later. That's the greatest reason I did not upgrade. In my opinion it's not the sign of a company that takes pride in their reputation for quality. It's the sign of a company trying to cash in on a hard earned rep (developed under the previous management) while resting on their laurels. When my 4S becomes too out of date or packs it in I will not replace it with another Apple product. I won't reward their incompetence by continuing to give them my money. Additionally, their computers are also suffering. Apple computer users are now getting viruses and malware, the computers are no longer upgradable and reliability issues are popping up where at one time that was completely unheard of.

I just upgraded today on my iPhone 4. I wasn't thrilled about it when it came out, but after spending some time with it today I'm glad I updated my phone.

First off, I don't hit "emergency call" accidentally when unlocking my phone anymore. I like the look better now that I've gotten a little more used to it. The control panel that slides up from the bottom is super handy, and it seems like text messages are easier to read. You can also make larger folders now, which is great if you want everything on a couple of pages like I do.

I've never had an issue with reliability with Apple products. The only time I ever have to upgrade my computer is when the previous one just becomes too old for current software. I used my eight year old MacBook for the longest time before I got my current (six year old) MacBook last year. My desktop is of a similar age. I still have my original color 30GB iPod, and my 60GB iPod classic. They both still work. My Dad has a working 1996 Mac that he uses with his 20 year old vinyl plotter every now and then. My brother's phone is an iPhone 3. And whenever anything has gone wrong, a quick visit to the Apple store has been able to sort things out 99% of the time.

As far as my non-Apple products have fared, I gave up after my third Xbox broke, my PC desktop lasted only three years before dying and was always glitchy, and my motorola phone had certain buttons stop working after about a year.

I'm going to upgrade to an iPhone 5 before my 4 is worthless. I can hold off until a 6 after that. I would go for a 5s, but with college I really can't afford one right now. I can get the 5 for about $50 if I trade in my 4.

My wife updated her 4S to iOS 7 and changed the text to bold and much easier to see now. It's a global settings and can be toggled back if desired.

The camera features (Panorama and Burst Mode) are a nice feature and the new ring/alert tones are to the point, but still prefer Pandora over iTunes Radio.

I'm holding off on my 4S and iPad because much of the IAA is not ready for the recording apps. More about that here:
http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/2017/ ... test-video

I don't think I'd go with a 5S or 5C, but seriously looking at the Moto-X. I might also just sit tight and see what the iPhone 6 with wider screen looks like next year.

I have no complaints with Apple and have not had any problems that couldn't be resolved on iOS devices or Macs.
OS X Mavericks will be out next month and the Apple TV update from yesterday offers much more content now.

I'd heard of the visual changes. So ever cautious, vapid me, went to the phone shop to have a look at the 5s.
I won't be updating till they sort the look of the thing out.
They've taken a product that has always been marketed as being the premier in its range. And made it look like VTech built it.
Performance be damned, if it don't look right, it ain't right

HiYa mate! Haven't seen ya round in some time, hope the music is keepin' ya busy and not the other stuff that happens in life's one act play.

I agree with the Vtech comment...my 4S is still on iOS6 and no plans to change but the missus did and says she likes it...whatever.

I really DO like the Moto-X though. The Galaxy is too tablet-like to carry around seems the Moto-X has better specs and suits me, but who knows...maybe I'll just wait awhile...

Something tells me you won't be diggin that switch for too long, samsung epitomizes unreliability.

I am absolutely diggin IOS7. Let's watch how samsung copies all that too.

The only thing I don't like about the Apple phone, is they don't make an edge to edge screen on the phone, which I am sure can be achieved by Apple. I think Samsung and the like do a better job of that IMO.

I'm guessing, based on Apple's past history, next year will be an iPhone 6 with a retina edge to edge screen in HD.

Nice site for comparing specs on all of 'em:
