I'm holding off for now.

My wife couldn't wait though and updated her 4S - - it is cool to see that SIRI is actually useful now and opens apps, email and the panoramic and blitz photos are kinda cool.

I updated iTunes on my Mac and like that upgrade. I'm more looking forward to next month's OS X Mavericks upgrade.

How 'bout y'all?

Looks like I need to delete a few things before I can install it. It requires at least 3.1gb of storage. I only have 1 gb available.
I should probably move the 6gb of photos to my laptop and backup drive!

I don't like it at all. Everything looks so much more "kiddy" IMO. I don't like the new icons, I don't like the way it looks when you text, I don't like the way it looks when you look through photos, and I don't like the useless features. Apple seems to be trying to hard to make iOS like Android. I'm convinced that the new look, couple with the new iPhone 5C is a way to reach out to kids. That way these young kids will want iPhones as their first phone, as opposed to other phones on the market.
Seems like a fairly pointless update to me

From Tech Crunch:

-Folders can now be paged, allowing them to hold a huge number of apps.

-Safari still has private browsing mode, it’s just in the app itself now instead of hidden away in settings. Find the switch in Safari’s tabs screen.

-Airdrop, Apple’s much touted system for wirelessly transferring files to other nearby iPhones, only works with the iPhone 5 and later. (I’ve spotted many a 4S user wasting time trying to figure out how the heck to turn it on, when the option simply isn’t there for them. Don’t worry, I wasted a good 10 minutes, myself.)

-Miss the “List” view in the calendar app? It’s still there, just not immediately obvious. Tap the search icon to bring up a scrollable list.

-If you’re into using default ringtones, give Apple’s list another look. They’ve added a bunch of new trancy ringtones and chiptuney text alerts.

-Siri has picked up a bunch of new tricks. You can toggle settings (“Turn On Do Not Disturb”), ask for recent tweets (“What is TechCrunch saying?”), show you pictures (“Show me pictures of cats”) pulled from Bing, provide Wikipedia info inline (“Tell me about TechCrunch”), Post to facebook, play back voicemail, list recently missed calls, and find restaurants on Yelp and make OpenTable reservations.

-iOS 7 keeps tabs on where you hang out most, allowing it to cache relevant nearby data. It’s neat, if a bit spooky. Once you’ve used iOS 7 for a while, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services to view a list of your frequent haunts. You can also turn this feature off at the same location.

I'm relatively new to the iphone, or smartphones for that matter. If I install this new ios, can I uninstall it if I don't like it?

I use my phone to make phone calls, send texts and occasionally to take photos.

I stopped using Apple products (excluding iTunes) because I found them to be highly unreliable.

I use an S3 now.

Most likely not.

I think most of the 'eye candy' changes are aimed at matching some of the positive features of Windows Phone and the Samsung Galaxy. Windows phone has the 'flat icons' look which I don't love or hate, it's fine with me.

Something I really like (so far) is the new way of closing background apps with a swipe. Soooo much better than pressing the icon until it dances and then closing each with the 'x'.

Also, I had a problem with my Exchange mail - I have rules set in MS Outlook to move certain messages into specific folders when they arrive. The result with the iPhone was a quick alert, and then the alert would clear as soon as the message moved, so if I didn't happen to see the alert when the message came in I might not know it was there. It appears they have corrected this headache.

I did notice my menus scrolling a little 'skippy' after the update - maybe because I have an iPhone 4?

I have a 4 as well, and mine is the same way. I actually feel like it slowed down my entire phone (nothing huge, just a little bit).

It's ugly, looks like a 10 year old designed it. I appreciate the new features, but the UI is funky and it looks like crap. You guys tried inverting the colors?

my 4 seems a little better now, not skippy like before but it does seem to have a tiny bit of lag.

Also, I spoke too soon about the annoyance of using an iPhone with Exchange mail and Outlook rules. Notifications still disappear.

I wasn't sure at first but after a day of using it I love it. I love that the messages recognises a time you are talking about and highlights it to set an event.

Buxom I can't believe you find them unreliable, say what you want about apple but I find them the most reliable things you can buy.

Also if I had a 4 I would never have updated, it's obvious this was made for the new phones and the 4 is now 3 generations behind, it was never going to be quick.
