Not quite sure where to post this . . .

Seem to be quite a few brands selling round wounds for my Pawn Shop Bass VI, but I can't find ANYONE selling half-rounds.

Any help out there??

I know D'Addario and Rotosound do halfwound strings, you'll probably have to buy online though. Most stores don't hold stock of strings that don't get requested very often.

I use Strings Direct a lot, if you're in the UK then they're the people to deal with.

Just a thought, why not buy a normal 4-string bass set and add single guitar strings for the two high strings?

Regular electric bass strings are not suitable for the Bass VI.

Ditto for electric guitar strings.

This guitar requires a specific string set.

No disrespect to Fender but they would recommend Fender strings wouldn't they? Pretty sure if you used the same gauges but from a different manufacturer the world wouldn't stop spinning on its axis and the sun would still rise in the morning, just saying.

I was afraid of that. I can see that the gauges of the strings are not standard for bass OR guitar, otherwise I would just get a half-round bass set

I'm not sure why you feel obliged to stick to the one string gauge.

Why not go slightly heavier or slightly lighter and tighten or slacken the truss rod accordingly if the neck relief starts to shift? That's what truss rods are for, there's no significant difference in neck construction between the Bass VI and a Strat and Stratocasters get fitted with anything from 8 gauge up to 12 or 13 gauge.

Author might not be tech minded and not want to fiddle and have Rome burn. Different strokes for different folks. My MIJ Bass VI and my Strats are not EXACTLY the same.

Yes. It's a guitar neck with a truss rod. Most of my guitars arrived with 9-42's on, I change them to 10-46 and adjust the rod if it's needed. Sometimes the neck's perfectly happy without any adjustment. If not then the difference in tension between sets and gauges and string manufacturers is easily compensated for with an eighth of a turn twist either way.

The alternative is having an instrument that never plays the way you want it to.

And Google tells me that no higher authority than Mike Eldridge approves ...
