just need some advice here....

I have some pickups sitting around here (single coils and humbuckers). I have been thinking of finding bodies, necks, and other used parts, and putting together a "mutt" if you will. nothing fancy-just to see if I can

any advice on doing such a build? I probably won't do a re-paint, just assemble it and see what happens. if there is a place I can find wiring diagrams for strat-maybe even a tele- that would be great. leaving all my options open at this point. and yes, I am am handy with a soldering iron.

dziekuje- (thanks, for my non-polish friends)

Hi phreddybee: highly recommended. After all, it's how most of us home-builders got started. Have at it! :D

SeymourDuncan.com is an excellent resource for wiring diagrams. They have nearly everything you could want (though frustratingly not the crazy bass/guitar double-neck diagram my neighbour's 13 year old kid needs right now for a kit guitar he's building. I wish I had a better head for electronics...).

Good luck with the build!

Cheers - C

+1

Once you master the basics of assembly and wiring, you'll find yourself less enamored of "store-bought" guitars hanging on the wall at your local GC.

Hey Fred, check your local Craigslist for good deals on the guitar parts you need.
And then be sure to take and post pictures of your build.
