This is really awesome dude!!!! Congrats!!!

We have a similar story only in that I also started playing when I was 35 (I'm now 38), except I have thus far failed to find a band or even a drummer with whom to jam. So you "win." I'm trying to find a female drummer and vocalist and sort of do a similar thing.

Also I watched the vid and the performance sounded good too. Nice job!

I found these guys through craigslist! Thanks for the kind words!

It was fun, very small crowd but we still brought it. There were some ego issues with the previous band but that crap doesn't bother me.

Here's some pics!

Well I was delivered some bad news this past Sunday. Apparently I'm holding the band back and I was fired. Reasons that were given were that I check my tuning too often during live shows (I'm not kidding), and I keep on making the same mistakes over and over (just like everyone else). It's cool, it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Get your own band together. Don't be held back.

The band I'm currently with, I left, six/seven years ago. Started 2 bands in that time and quit three.
They're like buses. Nothing for hours then three come along within fifteen minutes of each other.

If the band are picking on petty things like checking tuning too often. Then in all likeliness someone is either jealous or just doesn't like you and has been putting down the poison for a couple of weeks. In which case, they ain't gonna last long if they continue to listen to that person.
Or they are clueless. In which case you'll get the same result. They'll implode.

As for the making the same mistakes bit. Well the onus is on you to stop that. However non of us are playing Wembley. They could be a bit more forgiving or accommodating. Maybe spend a bit of time going over the areas you're making mistakes and getting it right. Thats what rehearsals are for. Ironing out the creases.

Sounds to me like someone got the knife in to you. And that the band are daft for not realizing what was going on.
Pick up your pack and start again mate.

We were not ready to gig, I told them that, our setlist was too short and we were still tightening things up. But they couldn't wait to gig, but even considering that, the gigs did not go bad at all. It was like a slap in the face, what upset me the most was that I didn't see it coming. Everything seemed cool, we went through a 4 hour rehearsal, and at the end I was fired. Then I overheard them talking about a "guy", so apparently they had somebody to replace me already. It got pretty ugly, they posted some crap about me on the band facebook page because I made a thread on another forum asking if checking your tuning often during a live show is such a big deal.

Lesson learned, I'm not jamming with anyone younger than 35 years old.

Yeah, I liked that analogy too. Good one Niki.
Juan, don't let getting dumped bring you down, build off of the experience. As you found out, you can't control everything. Your moral is going to see a lot of highs and lows while playing in bands, so just roll with it.

I am betting the "BAND" had this planned out from day 1 with you, and used you as a filler until they found a "supposedly" better player, or someone saw you guys gigging and wanted to muscle in on the fun/action and convinced the "BAND" leader they could do a better job than you. BAND POLITICS always ruins the band eventualy.

Don't stress, if they were that quick to dismiss you then they are not the Band for you, you want a bunch of fun guys/gals that understand playing music should be fun and that everyone still has something to learn. I bet they will have some doubts about the replacement guitarist too.

What is the band page? so after their next gig I can tell them how crap they sounded

Thanks Drew, yeah it was if anything a learning experience. It really sucks how we parted ways though, it was really bad. In fact if we run into each other (small island, limited venues and rehearsal studios), then something really ugly might go down.

(Edit. I was a bit harsh in my first version of this post) I went and listened to the video again and you aren't the one who's lacking in performance, but hey I guess they are all allowed to improve but you weren't. Snakes.

The best thing to do is get your own band and rock it, so when you bump in to them they feel crap about it.

well I can beat that, I was 60 the first time I appeared on stage before a live audience. somehow I was always too busy before that.

i'm 66 now and gig quite regularly with my band.
