Thanks for all the great words guys! Damn I wish this forum had multi-quote buttons.
torresfan - that's exactly how I would describe it. The buildup to that night was terrifying! I was really worried I was gonna make a bunch of mistakes, but I played it fairly tight. Sum bum notes and chords here and there, but not too bad.

That's great to hear! 8) I don't think it's never too late to take up playing an instrument. For example: T Model Ford (who died this past July-R.I.P.) was around 58 years old when he took up the guitar and then he made a career out of it playing the blues up until he died. He was in his early 90's. If it is something that you enjoy doing, then by all means do it. I started playing both bass and guitar (well, I had one around that my sister gave me) when I was 16 years old, but it wasn't until right after my 40th birthday that I ever played a guitar publicly for the first time. I've played bass in a live environment since I was 19, though. I never felt comfortable playing guitar (other than a songwriting aide) until fairly recently, and I still don't like too. I've had to out of necessity.

glad you had fun. I hope this is just the start of many great gigs.

I first played in front of an audience in the mid 60's. my band played at city-sponsored events that drew thousands of people. I was always nervous at the start, but as soon as I played that first note, all was well.

there is no way to tell someone who doesn't play an instrument what an absolute rush it is to be on stage. you have to do it to see what it's like.

best of luck in your future

Things are not slowing down that's for sure! Tomorrow night we have another gig and next Thursday we have another one. Then we're gonna take a month break and work in the studio for new songs. We even have some originals in the works!

Ok, here's some better pics. :)

Congraulations on your debut! I remember my former husband(deceased 3Dog Night bassist Joe Schermetzler) talking about his days in the beginning... It never gets quite as good as it did for you that night and you'll never forget it...so bask in it, enjoy it and be thankful there something called Youtube to capture it all for you! Best wishes in your music career....

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm kind of star struck!
Joe Shermie left us way too young, I know it's been a while but I'm sure you still mourn him. My dad is a big fan of 3 Dog Night and their music was something I heard constantly during my childhood, needless to say I really like them. Here's one song that reminds me of him because he played it so often! Love it!

Welcome to the world.

Hahaha I love it, Neeto sounds like you found what you were born for. Well thats the way I feel about it anyway. All the nonsense, tempers, tantrums, drummers (worse than owls your typical drummer). Driving, practice. You get tired of it.

That half hour/45 minutes or whatever stage time you do. Thats what makes all that other alien nonsense bearable.

I genuinely don't know how many gigs I've played. I'll tell you though. The fear/nerves may go (mine have). That rollercoaster feeling, that feeling that you've no control once it all begins. That what you've practised is coming out, naturally. You're not quite in the driving seat of your own body.
That never left and it's worse than crack. I don't even watch bands the same way anymore. I look at the choreography, how they line the songs up. If I'm impressed I'm making notes. Nothing exists on gig day before load in time.

Really pleased for you mate.

Wow you described it perfectly! It did feel like the music was taking control of me and my playing ability! Well, I got another gig tonight, wish me luck!

This is really awesome dude!!!! Congrats!!!

We have a similar story only in that I also started playing when I was 35 (I'm now 38), except I have thus far failed to find a band or even a drummer with whom to jam. So you "win." I'm trying to find a female drummer and vocalist and sort of do a similar thing.

Also I watched the vid and the performance sounded good too. Nice job!
