Can anybody check what happens when the battery is removed from guitar and...

1. Does it work with S-1 switch in pre-amp on position?
2. Does it work with S-1 switch in pre-amp off position?

P.S.

Whereabouts in Europe are you? The new versions of both these guitars appear to be available already here in the UK, if that helps...

"Ceri" I am in Poland but I asked for Europe because these days it is so easy to order just anywhere in Europe.

I don't know for sure, but I'd suspect that it would work in the off position.

About that volume drop issue that was mentioned. When I installed the Clapton 25db mid-boost into my Jimmie Vaughan Strat, I noticed a definite addition of "life" or "boost" in the guitars' output. Big difference. This was without dialing up any mid boost. Sounded like a "Strat on Steroids". Much bigger sound. Having said that, it makes total sense to me that with only passive output, the guitarist may consider this a volume drop. I don't know which wire could be disconnected. Let me know if you read this.

I think that's natural for there to be a perceived drop in volume with the preamp off... it's certainly the case when I flip my preamp off, though it's a completely different unit than this V6 which sounds quite interesting. I'm waiting for some videos of this thing in action. :)

Just found this too while poking around.

I always unplug my J. Vaughan with the 25db that I dropped in. I was too lazy to install an "S-1" or battery kill sw. One thing that I noticed right away was that my guitar became "alive" with that active circuit on. I enjoy the constant live sound of the active circuit more than turning the mid range up. I very seldom do that.

Why not incorporating that feature on the Clapton Strat?

Recall that Clapton rejected the mode switch in the prototype which is why they moved the power on/off to the jack so that the circuit would be active all the time when the cable was in.

Not in the Clapton. No battery....no go. In fact, you can tell that your battery needs replacement when the volume drops as the MDX pot is rolled to max.
