Hi all,

We're kicking off the week by introducing you to the latest additions to Fender's Deluxe series: the Deluxe Roadhouse and Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster guitars! Sure, they offer all of the awesome series features you love—"Modern C" profile, ’70s style headstock, modern 9.5'' radius fingerboard and more. But we've upped the ante on these two instruments with upgraded electronics and switching capabilities that offer incredible versatility.

Disguised in the middle tone knob of the Roadhouse Stratocaster is a special V6 rotary switch, which lets you access six onboard preamp tones. Otherwise, you can simply hit the S-1 switch to bypass the preamp and achieve pure single-coil Texas Special pickup tone.

If you're in search of a fatter humbucking tone, the Lone Star Stratocaster offers a black-bobbin Twin Head humbucking bridge pickup in addition to its Texas Special neck and middle pickups. The S-1 switch built into the volume knob lets you access the outer coil of the bridge pickup, making it just as easy to achieve single-coil tone.

Thanks for checking in, everyone! Let us know what you think.

The V6 looks kinda sorta of a modified MDX mid-boost circuit.

A nice marriage of the Clapton circuit with the Varitone system! :P

Are these upgraded versions of the previous models, or just revamped?

The new Roadhouse is a completely different animal with its V6 tone shaping system.

Hi tomasz2D, welcome to the Forum.

Whereabouts in Europe are you? The new versions of both these guitars appear to be available already here in the UK, if that helps...

Meantime:

The S1 switch on MIM Deluxes is an interesting development. Just like the motor industry, it seems features gradually trickle down the catalog.

This V6 thing is new to me. I'd like to get my hands on it and see what it's like. Onboard preamps have had a mixed reception from guitarists in the past. I wonder how it'll go down this time round. One to watch.

Cheers - C

I got mine two days ago.

3T Sunburst, Rosewood fretboard

Great guitar!

There does seem to be a slight volume drop when disengaging the preamp though.

Nice choice of colors.

And now fretboard options too!

22 frets, unusual for a MIM.

Nice Deluxe Padded Gig Bag included (not listed in specs).

Tinted Poly neck (some folks may not like this...)

The master tone control DOES work on the bridge p/u, just in case you were wondering.

All around a great looking, great sounding, great playing guitar.

Now I've gotta get me one of the older Lonestars with the Pearly Gates p/u before they disappear forever!

Hi lbreiden: care to give us your thoughts on that preamp?

Cheers - C

This is not my case, really.

The 1990's Prodigies featured 22 frets and were all MIMs.

The Blacktops are also 22-fretters.

Surely a wire is not soldered properly.

Remove the pickguard and check the wires, I'm certain the problem is there.

If you're unable to DYI contact your local dealer to fix the issue.

In the case of the Roadhouse the S1 acts like an active/passive switch.

Why not incorporating that feature on the Clapton Strat?

I have a couple questions about Fenders' New Deluxe Roadhouse Strat. 1.) Is the guitar always active?, even without the V-6 rotary being used? 2.) Does the S-1 switch simply cut the battery or does it also allow the alternative pickup selections as it does on the Deluxe Players Strat?

The S1 simply turns off the V6 preamp; it acts like an active/passive switch.

For optimal battery life it's recommended to unplug your guitar after use.
