Well, it's ordered anyhow. I decided to sell my Yamaha Folk Acoustic... FS720. I have been frustrated with it's lack of projection and low end from the get-go. I shouldn't be surprised, it's a small bodied guitar. I had even tuned it down a half step and while it improved the low end a little, I decided I'm just a big guitar guy.

I had my Gibson J-60 out yesterday and that thing juts sounds amazing... big and rich with tons of low end. Thing is, it's getting older and I don't like to use it for my daily player and certainly don't want to camp with it any more.

And so... I found this little number. It was a blem so it was marked down fron $499 to $319 and even includes a hardshell case. Seems like a good deal... the blem was a just a headstock ding and this will end up being my new camp guitar so no worries. I'll be excited to give this thing a test drive when it arrives.

Congrats on the new guitar. :) I recently bought a new acoustic myself. A friend of mine asked, "why'd you buy that for?" I said, "play around the campfire." Then he asked, "when's the last time you did that?" I said "shut the #%@& up".

Nice and you don't wanna be getting that J-60
too banged up - for sure.

Yup, it's a Washburn. It'll be my second one... my first acoustic was a Washburn Cumberland jumbo... man, oh, man, that thing was BIG and had low end for days. I'm hoping this one sounds as good. I traded it for rent years ago but it went to a good home (and kept me in mine :) ). They do seem like pretty good deal.

Washburn has been releasing all sorts of cool looking models to celebrate their 130th anniversary... I love the look of this little parlor guitar but given my love for low end, I know better. 8)

she arrived last evening... the action was/still is terrible but I can take care of that once I pick up some new strings... I already "recycled" the stock strings once to shave the saddle down but I didn't shave enough off. I'm not sure the strings can handle another removal and reinstallation.

It sounds amazing though! Huge, rich, and remarkably defined for a guitar of this size... no flubby bass notes and well balanced. I'll report back on how she's playing after my job interview and once I've had a chance to lower the saddle some more and install a new set of strings.
