I think the fact that Fender has created this forum for us is the real prize! Just my 2 cents.

Yeah. And now, we can talk to Fender directly, not only through standard-robotized email answers. :)

Nothing against standard-robotized email answers, of course.

A random drawing from interested posters to select one name to design a CS team built. Say, limit it to the Core Four. (P bass, Tele, Strat, and J bass). You chose the model, body wood, board wood, pups, electronics and wiring, neck profile, hardware, finish, and all the other niceties, all from Fender stock. Make it available at discount to the winner (say a small percentage above cost), and put it up in the Fender News section once done. On the board, as things roll along there could be updates during design and production, with photos and notes from the team. Do it as an annual feature, even if the first time went well. I think it'd be kind of cool and interactive. Give us an real inside look at how things work and what goes into our favorite instruments.

Although, I imagine it would be a big pain to organize and pull off. So it'd probably never happen.

However, you kind of have to realize that pulling those CS team members to build a bass for free actually costs Fender quite a bit in time and manpower that they could be spent working on more lucrative projects. I think a CS Team Built at cost wouldn't be a bad bargain. It'd probably be alot cheaper then you think. Sure we'd all love to get it for free and if something this wacky ever went down that would make it the greatest give away ever. Not sure the suits and the number crunchers would go for it, though.
