Im getting mine at my CD Warehouse down the street.
This looks like its going to be great! :)
I had just bits and pieces until the release of the remastered original 4 albums with dvds.
I began buying each wave and I got all the Dagger Records too.
I have everything in current print cd and dvd, some odd older stuff too.

Looking forward to this myself! :D

The stuff that's been put out since the Hendrix family gained control of Jimi's music has been much, much better than most of the "originals" released after his death. I have been replacing many CDs in my Hendrix collection with the newer releases. For example, "First Rays of the New Rising Sun" beats the heck out of "War heroes" and "The Cry of Love", and "Live at the Filmore East" makes "Band of Gypsys" seem pale by comparison. "First Rays..." was supposedly what Jimi wanted to release as his 4th studio album, a double-album (albeit maybe with a different name?), but the greedy b@$tards that had control of his music chopped it up and sold a lot of stuff that really robbed the fans of Jimi's best.

I have read that after "People, Hell and Angels", they will concentrate on releasing more live stuff, like this latest one. I would love to see "Hendrix in the West" re-released in a better version, and to have all of the songs from "Concerts" put back onto the live shows that they cam from, and released as entire concerts. 8)

My CD collection (starting with the good stuff for the most part):
Are You Experienced?
Axis: Bold as Love
Electric Ladyland
Blues
Voodoo Soup
First Rays of the New Rising Sun
South Saturn Delta
Jimi Hendrix Experience, 4-disc set
BBC Sessions
Jimi Plays Monterey
Stages, 4-disc set
Live at Winterland
Live at the LA Forum
Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1969 (Released as "The Last Experience", although it wasn't really the last)
Woodstock
Live at the Filmore East
Hendrix in the West
Jimi Plays Berkeley
Voodoo Child, 2-disc set, 1 studio and 1 live
Live Isle of Wight
The Jimi Hendrix Concerts
People, Hell and Angels
- And a couple of good DVDs:
Live at Woodstock
Jimi Plays Berkeley

- (The lesser and crap CDs, replaced and/or relegated to the back shelves):
Band of Gypsys (replaced by "Filmore East")
Radio One (replaced by "BBC Sessions")
War Heroes (replaced by "First Rays...")
Cry of Love (replaced by "First Rays...")
Johnny B. Goode (somewhat from Berkley)
Voodoo Chile (crappy recording supposedly from Maui, July 1970)
Purple Songs (crappy recording supposedly from Ottowa 1968)

I've tried to stay away from the bootlegs (mostly mono and poor recordings), and the plethora of crap with Hendrix's name, such as the Youngblood and Mack recordings, and the stuff with studio musicians filling in ("Stars that Play with Laughing Sam's Dice"?, "Cry of Love"?, and others), and the duplicate stuff such as Smash Hits", and other crap such as the Christmas songs, or whatever that was. Although, I once owned an 8-track called "P.H.I.T.A", which was the infamous recording with and an extremely intoxicated Jim Morrison who fell off of the stage, pulling Jimi's mic with him, ruining the recording.....well it already sucked with JM singing P.H.I.T.A. I bought the 8 track, listened to it in my car in the parking lot outside the store, then promptly returned it, still dazed and confused by it. :?

Even if a blank CD is released with his name and photo on it - I would still buy it.

Ask, and ye shall receive! :o

I stopped in Best Buy today, perusing the CDs I found the The Authorized Hendrix Family Edition of both "Hendrix in the West", and "Winterland" (single disc). Hendrix in the West adds "Fire", "I don't Live Today" and "Spanish Castle Magic", all from the San Diego Sports Arena, May 25th 1969. Winterland has a different song lineup than the original single disc, and I'm not sure if this disc is one of the four disc set, displayed in donnycraven's picture, or some other compilation of the Winterland shows.

New Winterland lineup:
Fire
Foxey Lady
Like a Rolling Stone
Hey Joe
Hear My Train a Comin'
Sunshine of Your Love
Little Wing
Are You Experienced?
Manic Depression
Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Purple Haze

Hiya Lou :)

I think its maybe a compilation of the best of the set.
I had it first and vowed not to get the set then took it back and traded up at CD Warehouse lol
I did the same with West Coast Seattle boy I started with the CD/DVD and went back for the set.
I get a trade in value for the used disc even if I bought it there because I opened it.
But I am buddies with the owner known him since he was a kid.

It is a fantastic sounding disc, and the same songs on the original are definitely different versions, so maybe it is the "best-of" the set. I still want to get the 4 disc set though. Is each disc in the set a complete show?

Yes it awesome I got that in the West too.
But Winterland is great set and all I noticed is they took out the crappy stuff.
Condencing it from the original 6 disc set down to a new remastered 4 disc.
I got the single from it also they released the usable parts as single songs here and there as well.
It is by far my favorite of all I have every disc loaded onto my mp3 to hear at work almost everyday.
I think my first introduction to Winterland was Concerts.
