How come Humbuck pickups are used more in heavy rock and metal music then single coil pickups?

Also will playing heavy metal on a Fender Standard Stratocaster with single coil pickups damage the amplifier?

No damage to your amp..
and HB pups are a bit beefier sounding, were as single coil are a bit thin.
best way to hear the difference is play both at your local music store.

Exactly.

First you use humbuckers more.
Then single coils.

See how that works?
Proper punctuation can relieve a lot of confusion.

Capitalisation is important too, especially if you have to help your uncle Jack off a horse.

Just as context (especially so in the spoken realm) as when greeting said uncle at an airport......"Hi, Jack!"
