As in, the grooves of the wound strings get ground into it...

Oh, and string bends now trigger the trem. Bend one string, bend ALL strings...

How shot is my Mustang? :?

As for the "molding" you could probably grease the saddles up with some nut sauce or something. but the bending problem can be fixed multiple ways. You could mod it with a Mag Lok by Super Vee. orr you could just add some extra springs and lock that trem down.

At least that's what I'd do.

Bending strings on a Strat (or other) with a floating trem will always move the trem causing the other strings to alter their state of tune. Wearing a groove into the saddle with the windings may possibly exacerbate the situation but I doubt it would be by very much. Its just too small of a percentage of the total string length that would be "locked" into the saddle. It's probable you just didn't notice it before. If the grooves bother you replacement saddles can be found fairly easily.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I had the same thing with my 72 Strat. I changed the stock trem to a Super Vee Bladerunner and couldn't be happier. I now have way better tone, better sustain, and it rarely ever goes out of tune. Best $150 I ever spent. No body modifications are required and the materials are first rate. I saved the original trem and saddles in a bag.

If they need to replaced, I can recommend these replacement saddles:

They improved my tuning stability.

No one has mentioned it yet, but I used to file those grooves away when I changed strings, because the grooves seemed to cause string breakage. I got tired of doing that filing on a couple of my old guitars and I put Graph Tech saddles on 'em.

I really like the Graph techs.

Its a Mustang, so if you have a TOM bridge then I'd say get Graphtech saddles, otherwise you can upgrade your mustang style bridge to a Mastery which would never give you those issues again. But it is pricey.

Dang, didn't see the Mustang part.
Yeah, I'd go with the Graphtech saddles.
