Here's a page I did as a result of the trip to Memphis last month. I waited to plug it until the Facebook timeline caught up. There's still a few more that will go up as result of that trip, maybe next week.
Anyway check it out at http://scottymoore.net/article551122.html

Jim

Is there a 'back room' story on this"? I have some memory of as a story that Phillips was cash poor and needed to sell Presley's contract...or...did Parker take advantage of the fact that Elvis was a minor, and work the parents to ''sell him''?

This was specifically about the details of the contract and sale. There's more to it, and why Sam sold but its out of scope of the page. Peter's book will have more details regarding Sam but essentially the money gave him the opportunity to promote and develop the other artists.

i've always understood that it was a deal for him to raise capital, but wondered if Parker had gone around Sam to broker the sale with the Presleys and force Sam to sell.
