Mogwai are awesome (and post rock btw if you wanna label them :P) - they're not all instrumental either, the album Mr Beast had some vocals on it IIRC.

They hail from the city in which I study and work actually, good old Glasgow! :)

Step out of your genre and listen to some of the early Ventures albums.

Excellent melodic lead guitar (Jazzmasters and Startocasters) supported by rhythm guitar and Fender bass, basic drum kit, through 4-10 Bassmans and early Twins. Then Mosrites and Twin Reverbs.

Walk Don't Run

The Ventures

Another Smash

The Colorful Ventures

Surfing

The Ventures Play Telstar

The Ventures In Space
