to be fair i wouldnt call Roger Waters one of the best bassists of all time, i mean come on who toures with an extra bass player to play the "harder" parts?

for me the best by a long way is John Entwhistle of the who. He did more for the instrument that anybody else and really brought bass playing to another level in the mid 1960's
