Congrats--that's a great looking guitar.

P-90's are the only way to go, in not-so-humble opinion...now, how about a sound sample?

Sound Sample? Recording has never been my forte...even when I have done some session work. I was never comfortable playing that way...always over thought it :x

It was between this guitar and a 60's tribute, but the 60's tribute had the dark back on it and it was too bad, had a pretty top on it, (Honey burst) but that dark back just didn't go with it. And I liked the binding on the neck on this one. But BOTH had that ripping P90 tone! I don't know why it took me so long to get back to a guitar with em!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

T2, mine is the Honeyburst with the Mahogany back. I didn't like the darkback either. When they first did the 60's Tribute, they supposedly made only 800 in each color. They sold fast, so the only way they could get around the "Limited Edition" was to change something. I guess painting the back was their way around it. I do love my Tribute and so does everyone else who's played it. Those Gibson P90's are outstanding. I bottom wrap my strings and screw the tailpiece all the way to the body. I do notice a change in sustain and tone. I don't care too much about a guitars looks as long as the tone and playability are there. If I happen to like the color, it's a bonus. Congrats again!

Yeah Supro seems I remember seeing some photos of that beauty! The natural (light colored) mahogany is WAY better. The dark stained back just doesn't seem to go with that guitar, they would have been better off going with a mild red stain if they had to change it up! Maybe it is time for a Non Fender Post again!?

I like the dark stain on sides, back, and neck, but only on a goldtop. For sunburst or natural-finish Les Paul's the lighter stain looks more appropriate.

Me too Arjay. Originally I was looking for a Goldtop but that run went really fast. The Goldtops didn't look bad in Mahogany either. I was floored by how great these guitars played and sounded for $850.
