I'm with yoda, if anything, if you must have a vice, go for the green stuff. better than anything else, even alcohol. I've lost several friends to alcohol and hardcore drugs. that stuff is for total losers man. One of my best friends from high school, Toby... we used to jam all the time. dude was an incredible guitarist. could've done big things. his dream was to become a recording engineer, move to alaska or somewhere really isolated, and just record and make music all day in the middle of nowhere. when we were hanging out I remember having discussions about other friends of ours that had gotten on meth, and he'd agree with me that we would never do such things - not a chance! but then... i heard a few years after school he had gotten on it, went to jail.... then he got out and had apparently cleaned up, but the local PD had it out for him. they came to his house and ransacked the place, telling him they were going to put him in prison, trying to get him to admit to something... i dunno. after they left I guess he was pretty upset, he went out to the shed and shot himself. just like that, one of the coolest guys I ever had the privilege of knowing was gone.

I have an idea--stay away from any/all of these "altering" substances. If your reality is so bad you need to get high, change your reality.

Ahh MDMA. I have a long history of this stuff, and I wish I didn't

While technically it is one of the safest drugs you can take pure (even safer than alcohol), the reality is a different story. The chances of actually getting it pure are slim to none and the crap they cut it with can spell disaster, and are generally the cause of the deaths from this drug.

Also it caused me to have awful anxiety issues when I stopped taking drugs after years of abuse, it's just so easy to get lured in after the dazzling high from the first few times.

Happy to say I've kicked all the drug crap now, just waiting to kick the booze, which oddly has been the hardest one of all.

According to this morning's reports one of the dead ingested six...I said "SIX!!!!" hits before it killed her. The article quotes a UNH student as saying "It's just crazy that this could happen to us. WTF    Time to drop out of school, girl. You obviously don't have the brains enough to be there.

Reading some of the apologias following the article. A self-styled expert in pharmacodynamics and pathology talking about heat exhaustion and dehydration as the real cause of death obviously doesn't know s--t from shinola about how the drug mitigates the body's response to environmental conditions.

Then there's the ever present govt conspiracy theorist decrying 'Big Brother's' intent to deprive one of one's inalienable right to kill oneself. Well I suppose as long as he doesn't involve any one else, I won' t miss him when he finally does.

Fortunately there were a few among the contributors who essentially supported the mantra :'Stupid is as stupid does' 8)

This. The best drug/upper/mood booster is doing some pushups and pullups and playing guitar. Or just get some good sleep.

They just cancelled the last day of some garbage ED"M" festival in New York because of ecstacy deaths.

This just in: ED"M" is not music. And what they do to it is not dancing either.

Well...Yesterday was weight training and I re-wrote my fitness program for the next quarter. I did my 45 min, three mile interval racewalk at 5:30 this morning. Fat free high protein breakfast followed. The laundry's in the dryer. Time for stretch and pilates ab routines. Then off to GC for a special on keyboard stands, and I may hit the grocery with my shopping list in tow. Who said retirement means vacay 24 seven? Only means I don't have to get up at 4:30 a.m.to make a 5:40 a.m.train any more...and.....if my body tells me I ought to go back to sleep for another hour or two, it's a keeper. 8)

There were some other incidents at the Bank of Boston Pavillion recently too (under the tent on the waterfront).

I did not want to comment on any thread about recreational drug use, thats a misnomer. One good thing to do is if a young person ask's you about it tell them exactly what illness each drug they ask about is for and why. An example would be John Belushi had heroin cocaine and alcohol in his system when his heart failed. Interestingly the medical community would call that (when prepared properly) a Brompton cocktail "given to terminally-ill individuals (especially cancer patients) to relieve pain and promote sociability near death". "terminally-ill individuals", John Belushi, such a great talent, there is irony there. When you answer those questions remember to caution them not to take drugs unless prescribed for a reason by a licensed Doctor.

The chances of meeting a Doctor like Michael's are in the lightening strike area. Most everyday people aren't looking for trouble so won't invite them in. Michael invited his Doctor to be his Doctor.
There might be a better way to express what I just wrote, lol
