Hey gang,

In line with our mission to make amazing handcrafted Custom Shop instruments, we've rolled out a pair of incredible must-see basses: the Limited Geddy Lee 1972 Jazz Bass and the Sean Hurley Signature 1961 Precision Bass.

The Artist Series Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is undoubtedly one of our most popular basses. The Custom Shop has expanded on that design with an amazing new handcrafted model that won't cease to amaze die-hard Fender and Rush fans alike. Crafted in the same vein as the instrument used on much of the band's epic Moving Pictures album, the road-worn Lee bass is on its third neck incarnation, which features new white binding and pearl inlays. Add to that some modified Jazz Bass hand-wiring and original mid '70s positioning of the bass' Custom '75 bridge pickup.

Available in Olympic White, Faded 3-Color Sunburst and Aged Charcoal Frost, the Sean Hurley 1961 Signature Precision Bass, fashioned in line with the session bassist's prize ax, comes equipped with Hurley's comfortable custom "C" neck profile as well as a cool specially designed string mute.

What do you think, all?

Cool!!! I'm Lovin' that CS Geddy Lee Jazz Bass,.....I have the artist model & it's a fave in my Jazz bass arsenal,....I was also luck to see & hear Geddy use this current version of his Jazz bass on the Time Macine tour in 2011 & The Clockwork angels tour in 2013, I like the Pearl pick guard & new neck with white pearl block markers & white binding ......I'll most definitely be getting myself one.... :)

Update,...... Wait A minute,...Hold the Phone!! I just went over to the Custom Shop site & checked this Bass out & it's retailing for $8000....  so I'm guessing that street price will be in the $6,000. range....WOW!! I thought it would be in the $4000. range like the Jaco Custom shop Bass... Regardless I think Fender has done an awesome Job with the CS Geddy Lee Jazz Bass,....I'd love to Play one, I read a couple of Geddy interviews (Bass Player & Premier Guitar) in the last year where Geddy talked about the current neck & the Pick ups on this Bass ( I believe the the Bridge pick up was rewound) ... an Awesome Bass.. :) though currently out of my Budget.. :(

This bass is unique as it sports three large black bakelite knobs as opposed to the regular Artist models.

Oh for crying out loud, James! EVERYBODY knows what a fabulous year for trapping this was. After you take all the muskrats, minks and badgers to the trading post, you'll have more than enough.

Seriously, I wouldn't be disappointed, you have a stable that everyone is envious of. (all you really need to make it a FANTASTIC collection, is, some black glass sparkle pickguards!) You've said numerous times that your Geddy was a great bass, why bother paying some outrageous price. Hell, Geddy may sell you one of his for that much, go and see him next time he's at a Toronto Blue Jay's game.

Custom Shop? After what happened to grh050, I'd really take the time to consider if I really wanted to take a chance.

Thanks Oxfan yes I've never ever had to do anything to my artist series Geddy Lee Jazz bass other than change the strings,& I've worked hard to build my arsenal, my recent acquisition was an SWR 750X (to complete my SWR rig) that I got for a bargain 3 weeks ago...(Long & McQuade Music was blowing it out because SWR is pretty much now defunct) Hey I came across a Bassplayer interview with Geddy from 2007 where Geddy is showing his arsenal & he comments on how he likes the neck on his CIJ artist model,( this bass was CIJ from 1998-2006/07 then MIJ from 2007 to 2012 & is now MIM).... from the 2010/2011 Time Machine tour onwards Geddy's bass has had it's 3rd neck..(the current maple neck/fretboard with white pearl block markers & white binding) check out this link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2VucctDtu0
I think that in a few years when used CS Geddy Lee Jazz basses start showing up in the market,..maybe that's the time when I'll pull the trigger on one,.......& with regard to Black Sparkle pick guards ....I've actually been thinking about putting a Black Pearl pick guard on my 2011 American Deluxe Jazz 5, being that it has a maple fret board with black pearl block markers & a natural finishon the body.......I think it a Black Pearl pick guard would look awesome!!... :)
OH !! & by the way,...where did you find that photo of my Uncle Randy & his dog Mr. Gruff....
