I always wanted to know people's opinion on this. Personally I like megadeth better, that's just me.

I would say Metallica, but they started sucking in the 90's. Comparing the 80's stuff to all of Megadeth's stuff, I would say metallica, but megadeth has been able to stay consistent. And also, Megadeth's guitar work is much more complex than metallica's.

Don't really listen to either unless it happens to be on the radio.

Don't listen to metal at all. I think that it's a bunch of noise and too much distortion. With the exception of what people considered metal in the 70's- AC/DC, Black Sabbath etc.

Have you heard metallica's solos and rhythms? I'm not a fan, but I certainly can't question the musicianship in some of their songs.

I would have to agree with this.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are better than both.

I haven't really cared for Metallica after Jason Newsted quit/got kicked out.

Megadeth I never really liked, but I'm not sure why.

If Dave Mustaine didn't get kicked out of Metallica, there would be no Megadeth, and I don't know if Metallica would have gotten as huge as they got had they kept him in. This whole thread gives me a flashback to the late 80s when all the music magazines would have these Metallica Vs Megadeth articles.

You're not talkning about Megadeth, are you? Al Pitrelli? Marty Friedman? Go ahaed and dislike them all you want, but it takes supreme talent to be in Megadeth.

Okay, you learn a few of the songs from Kill 'Em All, Master of Puppets, or and Justice for All. Get back to me with the 'zero talent' crap after you master them.

Kirk Hammett was taught by Joe Satriani (I keep having to repeat this). Joe doesn't suck - he's one of the best guitarists alive. Some of that actually did rub off onto Kirk.

You might also want to look at Dream Theater (though not expressedly metal - more like heavy progressive). You tell me that John Petrucci can't squash you (and me) into the ground with his amazing playing.

Then there is Yngwie. Again, more neo-classical metal than heavy metal. He can play circles around almost all of us.

Don't talk about that which you have no idea.

On Topic - Metallica, hands up with pinky and index fingers extended.
