I have played a few Paramount acoustics, pretty nice. But largely agree that there's not much there acoustically beyond beginner/intermediate or for just some one who needs something playable to slog to gigs.

but these paramount are pretty much the real deal for around a grand..

Definitely comparable to anything else in the neighborhood of that price break.

And not that I like to stir the turds up but.. IMHO .. the 6 in-line traditional fender shaped head-stocks on their acoustics.. eeeshh, nothing short of hideous.

Well, this may be a quality alternative for well under $500.
I meant the other way. I'd rather see some acoustics in the $1500-$2500 range from Fender.
And for those prices, they could throw in a capo :D Those Thalia capos do indeed look nice. I suppose they are worth it for someone who uses them frequently. Personally, the only thing I've used one for in 15 years is setups.

Ya, it just doesn't look right. Just like the "hockey stick" never looked right on the XII... and I'm glad they ditched that on the acoustic 12.

The problem here is, thanks to some unmentionables that profess to love (but must really hate) musicians, at that agreeable price point versus value in Canada that $1500 - $2000
comes out to approximately $1935 to $2580 . . . or $2205 and $2941 taxes in. and that opens up other choices or not to get your groove on. Pretty soon our capos in this country will be a Chinese pencil and recycled elastic pulled from some shorts.

I have no problem using a capo, and one or two songs in my band's repertoire do need one, but I keep that to a minimum and if I can play a classic "capo" song without it, I will.

Anything that alters the guitar is unwelcome in my playing. I like the EADGBE to be free and to cover everything (if possible).

I don't mind using alternate tunings, but I'll bring a second guitar already tuned for that, though...

Speaking of which, I just ordered a new capo from Amazon... A Walker & Williams capo I ordered along with the leather strap I wanted so much...

I had a thread on Fender's Capos a little while ago. Since then I've got
four of them and use a Shubb Lite most of the time.
