The title of this thread is not over exaggerated, trust me.

First off, I'm no long car-less! I am now driving a little bucket 'o junk that's only one year younger than I am. But it has a working A/C and radio, and therefore I'm happy. :D

Second, I started college. I'm not thrilled about the whole waking up at 5:00am thing, but the car helps a little bit with that. I can now stop for coffee whenever I want!

And third, the most awesome thing about this weekend was that I got to open for The Marshall Tucker Band! It was probably the largest crowd I've played to outside of festivals (where no one's really paying attention), church (where no one's really paying attention), and Club Nokia in L.A. (where the sound guy wasn't really paying attention). No, this was a thousand crazy cheering fans! And they actually called us (the opening band) back out for an encore, which The Marshall Tucker Band also let us do. I've never seen an opening act get an encore, much less been in the opening act getting the encore!

But that wasn't even the best part. Halfway through The Marshall Tucker Band's set, one of their roadies came by and let me know that they wanted to bring me up to play with them for a song if I knew one. We play Can't You See all the time, so one of their guitarists let me use his rig to play with them on that one! I heard Can't You See on the radio this morning, and the mind blowing-ness of actually getting to play it with them didn't entirely sink in until then. lol They also let me play with them on their encore, which was also really cool! Everyone in the band was really nice, and I'm really thankful that they let me do that. That night's crowd was also the loudest, most awesome crowd I've ever gotten to play for!

It was kind of wild going from that to a quiet classroom today. But there might be some other really big shows on the horizon which I've been sworn to secrecy about until they actually happen... ;)

Here are some pics from the show! Sorry about the poor quality. No pics with The Marshall Tucker Band yet, but I'll try to get some up soon!

Awesome! You have youth on your side so go for the gusto and follow your dreams!!!

I'd met Toy and Tommy Caldwell (RIP) back in the 70s when I was on the road. Doug Gray, at 65, is still amazing, IMO, and the only original member.

You go girl!!! :D

Thanks for sharing! I think you're my closest brush with stardom - very happy for you and I appreciate that you posted your experience.

By the way, I don't think I've seen a photo of you with a Telecaster before. That's great - what model are you playing?

Keep wearing Fenders. The music business is often quirky.. 'a being at the right place at the right time and having what it takes' kind'a thing. [ e.g. Bonamassa and Fender] You ne-ver know. Besides....Gibbys are either too big or too heavy.
