Hello folks!

I'm thinking about going on a little adventure next summer, and there's a lot of preparation involved. One thing I'll need is a gig bag big enough to carry my acoustic that MUST be waterproof, and has enough pockets in it to carry clothes, food, and other misc items I will take with me. I also need to be able to carry it on my back.

Does anyone know where I could find something like that, and how much it would cost me? It would be greatly appreciated.

-Jake :P

Hi Jake, can I talk you out of adventures that could possibley damage your gear? How about an adventure that is fun but doesn't include walking around carrying living essentials on your back? I am just thinking of your well being, I don't know about any outdoorsy stuff, I made sure that I purged my memory of camps tents varmints and insects when I got my honorable discharge from the USAF.

I would be very wary of taking a guitar into an environment where it would be necessary to take it in a waterproof case, just that fact makes it appear that it may be subjected to some rugged conditions and handling which a gig bag-no matter how high the quality- could offer enough structural strength to protect the guitar from impact with any kind of a hard object.Up until about 10 years ago I was an avid camper/hiker/nature lover etc. and spent many weeks and just about every summer weekend in a tent.I always had an acoustic guitar with me-sometimes even an electric with a battery powered amp-but I would always take it in a hard shell case.I gig bag offers little protection from the unexpected spills, tripping and falling that can happen whilst traipsing through the woods I have heard of and even seen first hand some outdoor tragedies involving guitars in gig bags getting sat on by some inebriated camper at a campfire sing-along.

If I were going on a wilderness sojourn these days I'd invest in something like a little Martin Backpacker and a sturdy yet small hard shell case for it rather than risk almost certain damage to a full size acoustic in a gig bag, plus I would keep, food, clothes, toiletries etc. in two or three separate water proof duffle bags of the type that Cabella's or L.L. Bean sell.If going anywhere where boating is involved,it pays to keep mixed contents in each bag so that in case of capsizing in a river or lake etc. and one bag gets lost you still have enough of your gear in another bag to keep you going for a little while anyway rather than have all your food, clothes etc. disappear in one bag.Cheers.

I would just get a Martin Backpacker. Fun little guitars that are built for being taken on a trip. It's on my list.

Well I don't Have the Perfect Answer yet, but i can get it, all I need is a little more information. What kind of "trip" are you going on? Why Does it need to be waterproof? What kind of guitar do you have? Where will this trip take place at? How long is this trip? What are the top 5 concerns about your guitar on this Trip?
