At first I thought it was kind of an odd pairing, the Beach Boys and Jeff Beck. Mike Love isn't on this tour, either.

They're coming down here to the Hard Rock Live. Tix are $49 up to $84. I guess that's not to bad for these times.

Probably not. I'm pushing the boss to let me go to a conference in London that week. Not sure why Love isn't on the tour (unless they're suing each other again). And I still think it's an odd pairing.

I see that Al Jardine will be on the show too.

Has any of the new music been released yet?

This could be a surprise.

That is a strange pairing. Either way, it should be a good show. At first, I thought this was some kind of collaboration by seeing the title of the post. Who knows, maybe that could happen, too.

I recalled Brian performing with JB's fellow bandmate EC a decade ago.

I just saw Brian in July for the 3rd time and have to say although his band is incredible and do a great job with the harmonies and intricate layers of brians mid 60s work, Brian is the worst I've seen.

He sang off key most of the night. He missed cues and forgot whole lines of songs. I love the guy and although I had a great time and enjoyed the show it was sad.

Love is on tour as the Beach Boys, which he ain't.

As I posted somewhere else on this forum (YouTube thread?) it would be interesting to see a collab album, but would it be The Yardboys or The Beachbirds. :D

Another side note - The Beach Boys are playing/touring without Brian ( a la J Geils with litigation about rights to name) and Brian Wilson's band can and does play, sing and perform circles around the Mike Love group (Beach Boys).

The dirt:

Mike Love's group:

Doesn't Mike Love own the rights to the use of the name 'Beach Boys'?

Well, so far, but Murray (Brian's dad) Wilson owned the name. Not sure how or why ML uses it except for maybe Brian's knowing that he's the real master of harmonic vocals and doesn't really give a crap anymore.

Yes Love owns the right to tour as the Beach Boys.
Of course to make a new Beach Boys album he had to bring Brian and Al back into the fold. No ones buying new BB music with just him and Bruce Johnston.

Brian Wilson's "Smile" tour of a few years ago was really good.

Washington DC tonight and Boston on Wednesday.

I'm away for the next few days, but could be a nice thing to come back to.
