Best of luck to you, Chet. I had some major abdominal surgery a year ago, and the guy in the next bed had his gall bladder removed through a scope... they sent him home in two days! It's a piece o' cake. :)

I think I removed a few vitals organs from some Iraqis using a scope. I'm really hoping that's not what happened to the guy in the bed next to you.

Good Luck Chet!!

Chet,

My wife had that gall bladder surgery coupla' years ago. They went in through small incisions, and took out about 4 stones. She still has the stones and the small scrap of gall bladder in formaldehyde. Shows her 4th grade students evey year to gross them out.

Her surgery: Friday. Back to work in a week (8 days). Only a few scars on the abdomen. You know, like a well played Strat with buckle rash. No problems in the entire time. It will be good.

Don't despair, bro', it's likely to go perfect! You hafta' come back. Single-handedly you resurrected this forum from the ravages of stupid posts and made it about the art. You will be missed, but we all know you'll be back.

I'm sure your wife would hate to think that you just compared her to a Strat with buckle rash.

I just realized, not only did you compare your wife to a Strat with buckle rash, you said a "well played Strat"

Good luck with the surgery and the recuperation afterwards.

Hope you do great and get well soon, Chet!

Laparoscopic (the little incisions with a scope) surgery is usually a breeze compared to the 'old school' surgery for Gall Bladder removal. I know, I've taken care of patients that had it since the mid '80's (I'm a retired RN-retired last year).

Still, don't lift anything heavier than a phone book afterward until they say so. That means no Les Pauls (ha).

Best of luck with surgery, Chet. You'll be in my prayers.

Based on my experiences, they won't have to hurt you that much to fix you up. I've had a couple of surgeries. My knee reconstruction was tough, because of the tendon cuts and bone cuts to rebuild the ACL I lost avoiding that novice skier who fell down right in front of me on Stump Alley in Mammoth. Other knee operations I've had that were laporascopic were a piece of cake. The cancer operation to remove a big cancerous lymph node was also a lot easier. They just took a scalpel and cut my throat a couple of inches to take out the golf-ball sized tumor. I've still got a scar from getting my throat cut. They didn't try to go after the other half dozen tumors on that side of my neck - later blasting that part of the cancer with six months of chemo. The surgery was really just for a biopsy, although I didn't mind getting some of the cancer out. Well, a gall bladder operation won't be like a day at the beach, but especially with a laporascope we know and pray that you'll be fine. From what I've seen, the taking stuff out doesn't hurt as much as rebuilding.
