I would like to extend my foot switch jack so that I can just plug it in the rear panel. Can I just drill a hole in the back install a Switchcralt 1/4" output jack then solder to a open end cable with a 1/4 plug inserted into the foot switch jack input?

I assume you wish to do this for the sake of convenience seeing that the jack is a little bit awkward to get at. Rather than drill into your amp and hack it up why not just leave the cable plugged into the jack and tuck the cable inside the cabinet when not in use?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

1. First of all, you would have to completely disassemble the amplifier removing the chassis from the cabinet and the PCB and all components from the chassis. Metal shavings and electricity don't go well together.

2. You need to use a shorting jack per the schematic (You do know how to read a schematic, right?).

http://support.fender.com/schematics/gu ... ematic.pdf

3. How do you propose to get a cable that is plugged into the front of the amp around to the back jack? It would be better to run a shielded jumper cable inside the amp from the front jack to the back jack which will require more disassembly/assembly.

Frankly, it doesn't seem worth the effort to me.

Why do people continue to post amp questions in the Lounge when there are two dedicated amp forums here?
