Sure I still have my old rig. Ignore the not-so-old double neck and that's 2/3rds of my 35+ year old stack. It's been very good to me.

Nice Marshall stack and nice double neck guitar.......kind of hard to ignore that. :)

Here's my very first electric rig...and I still have both of them, believe it or not!

Image

A 1980 G&L F-100 and a 197? Gibson G-20 solid state amp, both purchased in 1989.

I paid less than $200 for the former and $25 + 3 beers (really! ) for the latter...both sound great.

That little Gibson amp has one of the coolest tremolo/vibrato/whatever effects I've ever heard.

I wish I were a better photographer; this is about the best pic I've ever taken of that guitar, and it's much prettier in person than what you see here.

Yea, so I haven't had my gear for ages like you guys, and in fact, I blow through a lot of guitars. All of my gear is older than me, though. I've decided that the 79 Guild is a keeper, but I'm unable to find a suitable side arm for it. The Stratocaster is currently on craigslist. Hoping to get rid of it and pick up something from the 80s, like an older Squier, or a Kramer.

Saw a kid walking in school with the Guild slung over his shoulder. I offered him $95 more than he paid for it ($100) but then I changed it up to a bunch of parts, and the gutted Norma body/neck, totaling a value of roughly $100-$150. I had the guitar in my possession the next day. It had not been cleaned since new most likely. A couple of spots on the fretboard still have issues with mold I think. (white stuff grows on it, only on a couple spots)

When I first started playing, I got a free halfstack. Neighbors said whoever can get it out of the basement can have it, so that's how I got my 1991 Crate head with a 1989 KMD cab. Their kid did DCHC I think. He's a school teacher now, married and has kids. He quit guitar when his wife had his child.

I took the journey to my local music store during a blizzard once. It was after my first practice amp blew up and I was on my way to find a new one. In the back of the storage rack, out of sight, was a dirty, rusted, $@!&*% up looking, 1986 Peavey Envoy 110. (year the store gave me) They gave it to me for $45 and I've played on it every day since then. Best SS amp I've ever played, and in fact, sounds better than my stack. Been dropped, rolled, and thrown, and it won't die.

In 1962, during my last year in high school, I bought a Fender Concert amp. I took it with me when I joined the Air Force in 64 and started playing in a band. While still in the AF in 67, I picked up a Bandmaster and in 68 traded in my 63 sunburst Stratocaster I had bought new a few years before, for a Fender Coronado II Antigua. In the picture below are these three pieces of gear which I still have. Though they show signs of their age and use, they still get playing time at home, no longer in a group.

I had always regretted trading in my 63 Stratocaster, so last year after all these years, I bought a similar looking, albeit not vintage 63, American Special. The 62 Concert still reins my favored amp and goes well with my 2012 Strat.

That G&L is AMAZING. Congrats on keeping it!

Lenny...ouch! You kept the Concert and Band Master...good on ya, but traded a 63 Strat on a Coranado? That is the kind of thing that they give ya an Article 15 for in the AF!

I got to give you credit, you have some fine gear there and I only kid ya because you are a fellow AF Vet and can take it!

Negative, Sergeant......an offense of that severity demands a summary court.

Even a 3-level gomer would not commit such a heinous atrocity!

Yes, there are some things beyond regret...and not often told, that was one of them. And in the years that followed, I reflected on that many times over. But I still got an honorable discharge....Image

If I were a civilian DA I'd charge you with "depraved indifference" just for wearing that silver lamé jacket!

Kewl pic though.....reminds me of my own sordid pre-USAF past.
