Picked up this old Teisco guitar with a goldfoil pickup extremely easy to play short scale neck, with low action. Smooth straight neck, all original lots of fun It will never replace one of my strats, but the variety is nice. You wouldn't have only one kind of screwdriver in your toolbox same with this. :) ImageImageImageImage

Hey Minnesota!

I'm right there with you!

Image

I bought this guitar a couple years back - just couldn't resist the 60s nature of it and like you said, this isn't a bad guitar!

Image

Okay, it's an odd guitar, but that's a lot of the appeal that it holds for me. I like odd guitars and I own more than a few of them.

That's a nice find and a lot more fun than a screwdriver!

CR guitarman, you have posted your Kingston before, It was what made me seek out a single pickup guitar. :) Now if I can only figure out what a 'burger and fries' guitar is.

I'm not sure, but it sounds greasy! Come to think of it, I have seen quite a few used guitars that looked (and felt) very greasy! I bought a used 70s vintage MIJ Yamaha SG-200 in the 90s that was so incredibly dirty and greasy that the music store wouldn't touch it except to hang it up. I got it for $65, but it took me hours and hours to get it clean!

To each his own, but I have decided to rid myself of any "fun" "variety" guitars that simply don't do the job as far as tone. I want to have 3 "good" guitars that I would actually play on stage if I ever had that opportunity. Or I might just be frustrated. The "fun variety" guitar to which I'm referring that I own is the Pawn Shop Mustang. It's like a toy. It's going to be my daughter's starter guitar one day. It's literally 3/4 size even though not marketed as a junior guitar, and I guess it's better than a $120 starter pack mini strat, which it should be for $799.

It's any Teisco-made guitar(Kent, Kingston, Crestline) or bass with an SG-ish body, a Fender-ish headstock, and a factory black and red finish. These instruments are usually bought from a friend for $40., and are paid off with the labor of burgers and fries.

To each his own is right. I own 70 guitars, give or take one or two as I haven't counted lately, and they run the gamut for manufacturer, age, pickups, colors, etc. I've been on stage playing for fun and money for 3/4 of my life and a little more and I am still playing out - eight gigs in the next two weeks! To be honest, the last thing I get worked up over is that dreaded search for TONE and/or worrying if I own too many guitars.
