I found one for pretty cheap, in good condition, pretty cheap. Mid-70s. I'm going to play it tomorrow, but does anyone know anything about 'em? Cheap piece of sh*t, or great buy at less than $500?

I just bought a Crestwood with a Teisco gold foil pickup like Ry Cooder put in his strat back in the '90's. made in japan mint condition. Yours would be from the 'lawsuit' era and I've heard they were pretty nice copies. never seen yours, they are rare. 500 would be a little on the high side imho. I should get mine by Monday I'll post pics.

hmm

It's just under $500 at list, and the shop will take "best offer", so I MIGHT be able to get him down another 50 or so. From the description, it's in pretty great shape, with the only big issues being some cracking on the clear thing over the pickguard, as well as one of the, apparently infamous, extra screw holes on the headstock.

I like those, but personally wouldn't pay $500 for that unless I really fell in love with that particular guitar. If you want something with a similar 'look', but brand new and cheaper, the Wilshire has been reissued:

I'm putting the money I had on the Crestwood towards a fuzz. Liked the guitar, but the neck was way too meaty and flat for my liking.
