Personally I think Just Another Nightmare would be a good one.

Talent Shows are tough because if you want to win you might have to compromise what you like to play for something that the judges/audience would like to hear.

In that case I would go with whatever you play the best.

In A Gadda Da Vida....the longer version with the drum solo would be the best song to hear at a talent show. Talent shows are a pain because you end up getting rushed through at times and sometimes have to compromise just to show people you have talent. Song selection for a talent show can be a pain in the butt too, because while you want to play something you like and enjoy playing, not everyone who shows up to the talent show will be a fan of what you are doing or playing. So do you know compromise to do well at the show and get a good response from the audience, or do you keep it real and possibly get blank stares and silence from the audience? Talent shows are like school dances...before they happen, everyone thinks its a big deal and will change their life and the world, but then once it happens, you are a little bit disappointed and realize it wasn't as big a deal as you thought it was or should be.

I never gigged a talent show in high school, but 3 of my budies and I dressed up as KISS (leotards, makeup and all) and Air-banded "Rock 'n' Roll All Night". We were by far the best/energetic act out there. You have to pick a song that is somewhat timeless and very popular if you want the judges and students to go nuts.

You always have to play to your audience. Determine what your audience will be and choose your music accordingly. If it's a talent show, find out who the judges are and pick something that your fairly sure they would like/that you can play the hell out of.
