Everyone knows tone comes from your choice of picks.

Lately I've been using a gigantic triangle pick. It actually makes it have a monstrous sound, compared to my normal Tortex .50s

Not exactly maintenance but I've been outside since 8 AM building some plywood storage compartments for a private concert my buddy is putting on in a couple of weeks out on his acreage. His barn has been remodeled into a huge party room with quite a large stage (24'W x 16'D) with an elevated catwalk and ramps on each side that wrap around behind the drummer platform, coloured PAR lighting, mirror ball, smoke machine, etc. We are expecting 5 bands to show up and we don't have an organized place for all these guys to store their gear before or after their set(s) so I volunteered to build some storage space. It's been an issue in the past. All my pieces are cut and now I'm waiting for a few of them (as many as I could fit on my horses) to dry after a coat of flat black. This is an an annual event but it's the first year of my participation. Our band is headlining the show. The old back is a little sore now from givin' 'er all day. Think I'll take it easy for a spell. I'll glue and brad nail the cabinets together tomorrow, do some finish sanding and touch up the paint.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Good.

I need a new tech: you're hired. I pay in beer, and not very much of it. I'll throw in parrot food for free - least I can do.

Cheers - C

Well, I haven't changed the strings on anything I have for three years, so I'm sure I've failed any sort of maintenance routine. :P I'm sort of terrible in these matters, I'm afraid.

I've come to the conclusion(again) that you really need to use 2 surge protectors if you're gonna run an amp above 50 solid state watts in most homes(or at least in mine), especially one with DDT compression. Thank heavens for polarity switches.

There wasn't any trade, or skill I had learned out of necessity. Just common sense and stuff.
