Lately I have been building up my guitar/music related book inventory with a vengeance and have bought several books on guitars in general and on Gibson,Epiphone and of course Fender.I have also been building up my biographies and autobiographies of famous musicians.Yesterday I got 2 that I had only ordered a few days ago and they were "Kicking and Dreaming" by Ann and Nancy Wilson and "When I lLeft Home" by Buddy Guy.Since I have always loved the music of Heart and been infatuated with Nancy-who is just one day younger than me,but much better preserved-I just had to buy this book, especially since it's autographed.Buddy Guy has always loomed big in my list of influences and his bending style especially has been imprinted on me to a very large degree. These books should be a great read but I have so many other great music related books to yet read I really don't know when I'll get to read them. It's rough being an OCD music freak/reader at times-getting expensive too.

Ouch! :D

guitslinger - I've recently started reading musician autobiographies and biographies after I got hooked reading Keith Richards' Life. I've read several since then including Clapton, Hendrix, Cobain, Carole King, Allman Brothers, etc. I've run into a dead end for titles though so if you have any to recommend please post them!

Hi CK sorry that it took so long to reply but I only saw your post a few minutes ago. Some great rock biographies I have read are "Jimi Hendrix: A Brother's Story" by Jimi's Brother Leon and Roomful of Mirrors by Charles R. Cross.Leon really goes into pretty deep detail about how almost step-sister Janie and Jimi's dis-owned cousin Robert took control of all Jimi's estate after Jimi's father swore to all of Jimi's relatives that they'd all be taken care of and how Janie and Robert are both living in the most ostentatious mansions in Seattle's most exclusive neighbourhood.Jimi's siblings L,Alfred,Joseph,Pamela and Kathy Ira never got as much as a bus pass from Janie or Robert.Of course because of legal implications Leon wasn't able to go into exacting detail but if you read between the lines you can get a good idea of what went on.

Charles Cross's book is the best and most informative of all the Hendrix bios that I have read and doesn't contain any of the BS that runs rampant in some other Hendrix bios. The book "Hendrix Gear" is also a pretty ggood book and gives an inventory of Jimi's guitars and the whereabouts of many of them and also tells of dozens of his guitars and amps that are still out there somewhere and haven't been found or being kept secret for the past 40+ years.Hendrix on Hendrix doesn't contain any BS at all because it is made up entirely of Jimi's own accounts of his life.

Another great book is Laura Jackson's biography of Brian Jones called "Brian Jones, the Untold Life and Mysterious Death of a Rock Legend".This book contradicts a lot of what Keith Richards writes in "Life" and so it should because Andrew Loog Oldham and a lot of others who were close to the Stones discredit much that he wrote.
