Finally a jam session! I am trying out for a band this Friday. Its a cover tune band, all the guys are in my age group and they jam in my neighborhood!
I'm hoping things go well, because the last time I jammed back in Sept, I was hit with many technical guitar issues that landed my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster in the shop for warranty work.
So I guess now I have to decide what guitar to bring. Do I try the Jazzmaster again (which I have been playing a little bit here and there) or do I get the Fender Strat out of the storage closet?
Oh decisions, decisions!

awesome!

which guitar gives you the tone you like best?

I find myself even at my amateur level, when I'm going to play even for friends and family, I choose my Amer Standard Tele because I like the tone.

Given the amount of time I have actually spent plugged into the amp I am bringing (Traynor YCV 40wr, which I bought a few months before my son was born) its hard to say which tone I like better. I have used the strat more on my Fender Ultimate Chorus amp than the Traynor. I've only jammed with the Traynor twice since I bought it 3 or so years ago, and when I do plug in, my wife says its too loud when the volume is at 1.
I have played the Jazzmaster more often than the Strat lately. I took my Fenders off the wall and put up my Squiers when I had some workers come into my basement. I didn't want to have those advertised just in case.

Good luck and enjoy yourself. Just take which ever guitar you play the most. There's a reason you play one more than the other.

Thats some good advice, considering what happened the last time I jammed!

Have fun, Yoda! Taking both guitars is a fine idea. What kind of music will you be playing?

So, 23 hours and counting. Gotta get a bit more practice in tonight.
We'll be playing some cover tunes. Probably some CCR, The Police, The Cult etc. a bit of rock from all the decades. Thanks for the support. Ill let you guys know how it goes!

The jam went awesome! Cool bunch of guys, full set up and only a 5 min drive.
Played some tunes I've never played before and managed to follow along. It was super LOUD!! My ears are ringing like I was at a rock concert. I'm not sure if it was the volume or the beer, but at one point it was so loud I felt sick to my stomach!
It sounds like we may be jamming again. I'm bringing ear plugs next time for sure!
Can't wait!
