My friends epiphone casino bridge pickup will quit working from time to time it just won't make any sound when you pluck the strings, and when you touch it (the pickup) a feedback sound comes from the amp. Anyone have any ideas how to fix it? He doesn't want to go to a repair shop unless he absolutely needs to.

It could be one of these:

Bad Pickup
Ground Short
Bad Pickup Selector Switch

Hard to diagnose electrical problems without having it in front of me.

Chet's right, and it's even harder because it's a hollowbody. It's not easy to get in there and check out connections. Your best bet here is a good tech.

I had the same problem woth my treble pick up in an epiphone before. i think that you would probably have to re-wire the pick up cables and i know some where on the gibson website there is a diagram for how to do that on their guitars, i am not sure where though. i would recomend not doing it yourself though

Bring it into a shop and have it re-set up I guess. If the problem persists, get a new pickup. I'd suggest the Gibson Dirty Fingers for EXTRA LOUD OUTPUT!!!

I agree with Chet. Any shop with a multimeter and a decent tech can check pickups without doing anything except unscrewing the pickups from the body. If it's a bad pickup (as in no reading or a very low reading), then you know it's the pickup. If it works like it should sometimes, then it might be a bad solder connection-but I'd recommend taking it to a tech.

If the Casino has 'dogear' P-90's, then mounting a 'regular' sized (as in 'Dirty Fingers') humbucking pickup is going to require possible rerouting of the body and a whole new mount.

I would check out that selector switch first. Epiphones are known to have the crappiest switches on the face of the earth.
