I think it's been a few years since I've seen this type of thread. What are your top 10 bands (or as many as you can list if less than 10) that you recommend people checking out now? I love Hendrix, Mayer, Cream and some Clapton, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins ("new" band is really getting good reviews lately) ("new" in quotes because they've been together for years now), Black Keys, White Stripes/Jack White, Walkmen, Iron & Wine, Gary Clark, ZZ Top. But even I am getting bored and looking for something new after hearing the same things over and over. What should I check out? I checked out Bonamassa...can't really get into him. A few others I can't think of now that I randomly checked out as "you might like" from iTunes...that dude I posted about who sounds like Bon Jovi on vocals...some kid I forget his name (Tyler Bryant?)

What can I listen to that is hard edged but still musical.....with melodic solos, like Nirvana was.

Pearl Jam is releasing a new record soon. Cool. What else?

1. Infantree (found them through the Fender website--interesting sounds, unique/fresh, but a very sad/dark tone and I can only take so much of it).

2. ???

3. ???

The Hellecasters - New Axes to Grind

Blackberry Smoke - good southern rock.

I don't know how often these bands have solos (I don't really pay attention to that kind of thing), but here's some bands you MIGHT like:
The Sheepdogs
Arctic Monkeys
Bush
Cage the Elephant
John Butler Trio
Kings of Leon
Seether
Wilco
Vintage Trouble

If you want to try something completely different, I highly suggest City and Colour.

I'm sure you've heard of at least a few of the bands I named, but if not you should give them a try, maybe you'll like it!

Pink Floyd - Animals

Edgy guitar work, Edgy tone, Edgy lyrics. Fantastic. One of my all time favorite albums

Check it out dudes....several full length shows up on youtube already. I love youtube. I always look for full shows and they are there for every single band now, often the day after the show. Someone put up July 24, 2013 Smashing Pumpkins show on July 25. It's amazing.

A new album by a band called 'Trampled Under Foot' has some great guitar work and even greater female vocals.

Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall II, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton

One eponymous studio album (1992), one great live album ("Living In A Dream") from about six years ago...all awesomeness!

Great, great albums(s), by two great, great guitarists.

The Raconteurs - another jack white band, my favorite of them
Brendan Benson - the other guitarist from the Raconteurs has a few albums of his own
Queens of the Stone Age is awesome, they just released their first album in 6 years and it kicks $@!
Cross Canadian Ragweed if you like Southern Rock
Lindsey stirling plays violin, not guitar, but shes an amazing musician
Ballyhoo! is a lot like sublime. They've got some really cool melodies.
The Eagles of Death Metal - another band from Josh Homme of QotSA, kinda quirky but theyre a good jam
Lucero has some of the best songwriting I've ever heard. sad music for the most part, but well written and some interesting guitar on some of it.
