Last night we finally played a gig where the grandkids could come. This is the first time they have got to hear the band. Thay had a blast.....they think their PaPa is a rock star (lol).....and I also had a blast watching them dance.
Eufaula, OK is located next to a large man made lake built in the late 50's/early 60's that is named after the town. We played at a restaurant built on piers over the lake in what's known as Eufaula Cove. Actually we were set up on a floating dock, but we had a gently breeze and only a little chop on the water, so no problem. The breeze kept the bugs away and some close by storms just before sunset that cooled the area down made it a perfect evening for playing outside....especially in Oklahoma this time of year.
Hopefully we'll be able to do this again before too long. Here's some pics;

This pic is of my grandkids Isabelle (7 yrs old), Amanda (10 years old) and Dusty (2 yrs old).

This is one of Amanda and Layla (6 yrs old).

Here's one of Isabelle and Madison (11 yrs old).

Thought I would throw one in of me playing my Squier. Since we were playing on the water I thought I would use it instead of my USA P-bass.....just in case.
The bass played easy as always and sounded pretty good. Did miss that p-bass thump though.

Thanks reno2atlanta.

I've actually been working a little with my oldest grand daughter, Madison. She has a good tone, sings on key and learns quickly. As long as she enjoys it I'll continue to work with her, but I won't push her or any of the kids into it. they have to want to first.

With that being said.....Dusty isn't too shy to strum on my strat and sing you a song!
He's rather proud of his own performance as well.

Fine looking bunch of grand kids you got there. Great that they got to see their Rockstar grand father. Getting to see my uncles band perform was what got me playing, and that seems to be working for Madison and Dusty!

Thanks for sharing.

Good for you! My kids never saw me play. Mostly because their age for the kind of venues we have played, but the few times we did an outside show in more family friendly environments, with my wife working a weekend shift, I had nobody to keep an eye on them. Enjoy these times...they go fast!

that's great, man. some of my best memories from my childhood are going with my grandfather to his sister's house... they'd all get their guitars and banjos out and play bluegrass all night...my first taste of live music. your grandkids will cherish these memories forever, i know i do. :)

When my daughter and son were young they were able to hear us a few times, but now that they are adults they seem to really appreciate what we do.
I probably won't be playing like I am now when the grandkids are grown, so I'm thankful for any opportunities that come along.

I also grew up around singing and picking at family gatherings.......gospel and country music. One uncle in particular inspired me. He is 79 years old now and still plays 3 or 4 times a week. Those are great memories that I will always cherrish.

Great pics of the kids - my grandsons (no girls) all like it when they get a chance to hear and see me play.

But I have to say, I really like that shirt!

Outstanding!

I remember the first time my daughter was able to see us perform, right after she turned 21 and could get into the clubs. And of course she brought along all of her HS and college friends to hear her rock-star dad rip it up. They seemed pretty impressed and I never had to worry about those punks stealing my hubcaps or TP'ing my front-yard landscaping after that.

:mrgreen:

:D :D :D :D Thanks, but it's nothing compared to this one;

I bought these two shirts just for the fun of it and rarely wear them. :mrgreen: Thought they kind of went with the name of the band, Fox Fire. :D
