I just heard from my girlfriend that it was posted on his Facebook page. That really sucks! :( I had a feeling that this was going to happen though because he was in bad shape after his stroke. At least he had a good run. I'm sad we missed the chance to go see him the last time he played around where I live. I have to say he was one of my favourite blues artists.

R.I.P. James !!

Saw him at Deep Blues Blues Fest in Lake Elmo, MN in '08 before his stroke... great show !!

T-Mo had a difficult life... trouble seemed to follow him everywhere.

He leaves 26 children, so we know at least he had some fun !! ;)

cheers!

I first learned about him from this film: Imagewhich I think is one of my all time favourite music documentaries. I think he was the last one living from that movie, other than the younger people that played with those old dudes. I've been kicking myself ever since he had his stroke and I didn't go to his show beforehand when I had the opportunity. That's the thing with this old blues cats, you best see them when you can because you might not have an opportunity to do so again. Honeyboy Edwards was another one I missed live, too. :(

Yep... I agree wholeheartedly !

Tryin' to see them all before they go.

This year I've seen Little Freddie King, Guitar Lightnin' Lee, B.B. King (for the hundreth time), Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters guitarist), James Cotton, Jody Williams, Walter 'Wolfman' Washington... and it's only July.

cheers!

Yeah, I've noticed in the past couple of years a lot of the old guard has been going to the juke joint in the sky. At least they live on in their recordings and hopefully their will be others that will carry the torch, even though it's not exactly the same.

In a fair world, it would have been the other way around.

Indeed. I was trying to find a quote by him, but I couldn't. From reading different interviews and from the film, he was one hell of a character. I'm gonna miss him being around.

Yes! I saw TMF open for Buddy in West Palm Beach in 2002. He had his bottle-in-the-bag to keep his voice lubed and he was always yelling at his drummer. I think his name was Spam or something like that.

We used to have a great Blues festival in south Florida every year where you could see a mix of the old guard and the stars of the future. I really miss it.

Off to the gig at the juke joint in the sky. RIP.

Yeah, I've read about Spam in various interviews. He was backed by the band GravelRoad and switched from Fat Possum to Alive Naturalsound around 2008. I think Spam was a pain in the $@! to him, probably.

A great influence on many guitarists. Virtually invented the guitar solo.
