The first Fender guitar that I fell in love with was the Tele, which is what I saw Pete Townshend playing on a TV program one night in early 1967,however later that year when I first heard and saw Jimi Hendrix with a Strat,it all changed and the Strat became my dream guitar and consequently became my first Fender.I have owned 6 Strats over the years and still have 5 of them and no doubt will be buying more-especially after seeing the beautiful faded Ash Strats which Brad has posted on the Lounge recently-I would love to have one of these babies.

Mark Knopfler's Fiesta red strat on the sultans of swing video clip and also his Pensa Suhr Mk1. Im yet to own a fender but i have found that the 70's strats seem to have the nicest necks and might grab one for my first :)

It was probably Jimi Hendrix's strat, maybe the Woodstock white one or the black one.

Then the pictures of Blackmore in the Machine Head album put me over the top.

It was kind of a combination of things for me. First was Wayne's World, 'oh yes, it will be mine!' :) The second was hearing and seeing Jimi Hendrix for the first time on tv. I do like a lot of other guitars but I always go back to my Fender.

My black Telecaster that I had over twelve years ago,...sure wish I still had that guitar! But hey,...I love the Strat I have now. Looks almost like the one Buddy Holley played.

I guess it was probably Kurt Cobain's fault....I was a huge nirvana fan before I got my first guitar.... I had a cheap silvertone bass, then I got a dean baby V...and it just didn't feel right....so I took it to the cool little local shop, Krazy Kent's Economy Electronics - in cookeville, tn... and saw what I wanted...didn't even know what it was a copy of at the time, but I had to have it. it had that look... so I traded the V for my no name, no serial number strat copy that I still have today, 10 years later... and then a few years later bought my first real fender, the black and chrome Jaguar HH. and then last year I had a CAR mexican strat for a while, but traded it for my Airline... but right now I've got my eyes on telecasters.... I think I finally caught the tele bug. I blame you guys. :)

Back in the days of B&W TV I saw someone playing a sunburst Strat probably on the Ed Sullivan Show. Don't remember who it was, but I remember thinking that it looked so Space Age (remember when that meant futuristic?). Then came Hendrix about the time I really began to get into guitars. I saw a sunburst Strat at Rivers Guitar Shop in downtown New Britain, CT about 1968. I touched it. And I was smitten.

Today I have five Strats and two of them are sunburst -- one rosewood fretboard, one maple.

Two actually....

One was the white strat Neal Schon played with Santana.
Two was Fender's poster of " The Favorite Flying Machine " a clear 70's Strat....

Of course there is always the latest one .... Just picked up a late 90's black Standard MIM for $200, a couple minor dings but really nice and a lightly figured Maple neck...
Still debating wether or not I will swap the black body for that clear finished Figured Maple body I made.... Hmmmm...
