While Chris Squire is no worry for Squier by Fender, maybe Billy SQUIER would be. Dunno.

Anyway there have been and are SQUIER BY FENDER shirts and stuff. I've seen them before. You just aren't looking in the right places.

Try that auction site or something like that maybe. I've seen them.

LOL I meant no disrespect... But you have to admit, to the general public, Yes is one of those bands that no one knows until you say "they did such and such song.."
I actually just looked them up on spotify and then was all "ohhhh yeah, them!"
I actually do like what I've heard, but only about as much as I like most things from that era. I will give them huge bonus points for using the EHX font on the family tree album cover. good stuff.

Brotherdave, I have google'd, yahoo'd, ebay'd, craigslisted and have only found two "Squier" guitar shirts. One was a black ladies tank top (probably wouldn't look right on me) and an old used one on Evil-bay that looked like someone had used it to wash their car for the last 10 years. If you have any hints I'd be happy to try them, my searches have all come up empty.

And let me add that I loved your quote on "never disrespect another musician" that is great and something that everyone should remember.

Boy, this thread got off on some wierd tangents didn't it?

Totally and absolutely disagree on the Staples. Madonna too but for different reasons. Won't go into any explanation on either because most people know why they are HOF'ers.

As a lifelong YES fan it would be great for YES to get into the HOF, but if they don't I understand some of the why.

Remember the First Rule of Musicianship: Never disrespect another musician.

Things like that have a way or circling back at you. Bad Karma.

All the above: +11

The Staple Singers are more talented than most of the acts in the R&R hof, that must have been a typo. 8)

Not dissing the Staple Singers at all...

But, do they deserve to be in the Rock & Roll HOF ?? It's not their genre.

One of the problems w/ HOF is that the genre alone cannot support it's own existence.

Rightly it should be called The Rock & Roll, Metal, Zeideco, Cajun, Folk, Country, Pop, Western, Crossover, Punk, New Age, Alternative, Rockabilly and Everything Else HOF.

cheers!

I have to whole-heartily agree with Brother Dave-the bodies of work that Yes has released since their initial formation is incredible in composition and execution and they are among the absolutely most respected of rock musicians by others in their genre. Steve Howe's guitar work is flawless and original, the intro that he came up with for Roundabout is still one of the most recognized first bars of any recording and is right up there with "Purple Haze","Hotel California","Sweet Home Alabama","Layla","Stairway to Heaven" and many other classics,as far as instant recognition goes.

Most people's experience with Yes doesn't go beyond the band's Top Forty songs, but their albums contain a treasure trove of prog rock that can easily give Alan Parson's Project,Mike Oldfield, King Crimson, E L & P, Gryphon,Audience etc. a run for the money.Anyone who is open minded enough to appreciate virtuosity despite the genre would most certainly be able to get into Yes as each member is a master of his respective instrument (s).

With regard to the R&RHOF,there are many superb talents admitted to it that shouldn't be in it,not because they aren't good,as a matter of fact many are amazingly talented. Why these people shouldn't be in it is because they aren't rock performers.Having someone like Donna Summer in the R&RHOF is as ridiculous as having Megadeath nominated for best Symphony Orchestra.

My example would be the 1 time that I saw them live they opened for the Temptations I'm not sure you could get more rock and roll than that. Pops Staples could rock that guitar and the group singing was powerful. But I do kind of get the "
It's not their genre." view, I thought they rocked. :D
