+1

I think some of the respondants to the post have been a little hard on the OP. The guitar in question is a Fender Jaguar, albeit modified. It's still a Jag.

I wouldn't worry about the headstock but the OP doesn't feel it looks right without the Jaguar decal. OK, it's his guitar.

But I'm inclined to agree with FatNWeak on this.....customize the decal the way you customized the guitar.......make it your own.

Why replace the logo? Why care what name is on your guitar if you are happy with the play and sound. I just put an old Spingy Sound neck on a Fender Strat for a guy and the last thing he was worried about was the name. The Tokia was probably better anyway but he was looking for feel! Not name!

I'm in France and counterfeit Strat has become a sport.
I'm having a bad track ads, then after telephone contact with the guy, I passed for a guy Fender France and prevents the guy I'll alert the customs and police!
The guy says it removes the ads on begging me not to alert the authorities!
The latter was a Squier Bullet makeup announced for Strat 68 at a price of € 3,600.

The guy had a scare!

I did not hesitate when I see a false Strat, I made me look like a typical Fender (I know, this is not good!) And threat of prosecution.

But it works on spa time!

Our favorite topic. We had a really long, hot, and heavy thread on this about 3 years ago. In the opinion of many, any unauthorized aftermarket reproduction of copyright or trademarked company product intended to be used to represent 'original factory' is seriously frowned upon, and might be found to be unlawful in the legal venue which it is employed. That includes but not limited to parts, such as bodies and necks obtainable through chop shops like 'Reliable Fender'; neck plates, waterslide transfers, etc. If you need to satisfy some emotional need to have Fender on your gear, buy original factory gear from a legitimate dealer or other source. Refrain from being part of a customer base for suppliers who offer product which could be illegally employed.

Fender now sell necks and bodies and you can say that they are playing on the same field that stratosphere and reliablefender are playing on.

I mean, it's hard to draw a conclusion to the argument. There had been a vacuum in a market for necks and bodies that was filled by the two above mentioned ebay stores. That which was frowned upon by us, while fender had a hard line on not selling aftermarket necks. Yet Fender now provide the same service to some people who will use these to help counterfeit. :?

I'm not bothered by it to be honest- because I'd suggest that if Fender are now providing the same chop shop service, it must be good enough to be legal. Or they have just accepted that whether they like it or not, people will counterfiet. Perhaps there was a bigger market for them than anticipated, which considering the scale of operation these ebay stores operate at, that may be the case. Even though people will buy genuine necks and attach them to bootlegged bodies and hardware.. It's not feasible to pay thousands of dollars for corporate legal teams to chase after a poor guy with a guitar worth just a couple hundred bucks..

This distantly echoes the lawsuits of the 70's which lead to japanese production to compete.. If there's too many small fish to chase, Why not just be a large fish in a small pond and compete directly?

So on to logos- how is a counterfeit logo thats on a genuine neck different to let's say, a genuine neck on a counterfeit body? I think it's all the same. People are quick to make their partscasters from genuine necks and bodies and be happy to call them Strats or Teles etc.. Yet logos seem to be different- even if its a genuine Fender neck. To me, the Jaguar.. it's still in a way a partscaster. Just not 100% genuine. But I don't think the OP is worried, he will do what he has set out for anyways, regardless of what we say :)

Ha just been viewing a dubiously cheap Tele on ebay. Checking his seller ratings I see he buys a fair bit of stuff from China.

I guess you should compare it to someone bootlegging your album V someone doing a cover version.

... but to answer your debacle - just call it a "Muguar" all Fender parts anyway

I'd rather not have a logo on anything. Keeps people guessing as to what you're playing. It's kind of a game with me. I don't identify the amps I build, or my pedals that I build. I don't even paint my pedals, I know what they are and what they do.

Ethics and Karma are a $@!&*. Always be honest and you'll have less problems down the road.

I can see the issue from a point of view of 'closure'. The headstock says 'Fender' but lacks something. Strawberry shortcake sans whipped cream.
