Last night I got a phone call from my best friend wanting to know if I wanted my 2006 modded MIM Standard Strat back . It turned out that he and his wife were in financial straits again and he wanted to sell it to me for only $200.00 . I had given it to him a couple of years ago when he had sold me his MIA 60th anniversary special edition strat, which I ended up selling last year when my wife and I were in negotiations to bring our soon to be , adopted son , home with us. I told him I'd be right over and not to let anybody else have it. I ended up giving him $500.00 for it and a extra $200.00 to help him and his wife out . He lost a leg to diabetes a couple of years ago and even though he's collecting disability , things have not been good for him with his wife having cancer and having to go through chemo, etc. He thought I was giving him too much for the guitar but, I didn't want to hear it and I told him don't worry about paying me back the extra money . Just being my friend is payment enough .

A lone tear rolled down my right cheek after reading that.

Not a joke.

The minute I saw this post I knew something was wrong. By wrong, I mean that I had seen a variation of this post about this very guitar before, way back in March of 2012, the 16th, to be exact. I went looking for it and there it was...
Image

I picked this up last night from my best friend for only $225.00. It's my old 2006 MIM Sunburst Standard which has a Mint Green Pickguard , Knobs , and Pup Covers , along with Graph-Tech bridge saddles and Fender Locking tuners and a Musician's Friend HSC. There is some slight fret wear on the 1st 3 frets but I can live with that. I gave this to my friend that sold me his 2006 60th Anniversary MIA Special Edition Strat over a year ago, because he didn't have anything else to play after I bought that off of him. He needed the money at the time because he had a leg amputated due to Diabetes . He called last night and said he didn't want to play any more and wanted to give me the guitar back for free. I told him I would buy it back because I knew he could use the money.
So the obvious question is... which story is true? My bet - neither of them.

Someone is living in the past, making up stories and needing attention.

Could be coincidence.

There are tons of sunbursts with green PGs floating around, and these are fairly common mods.

It very well could be a strange turn of events.

Also, I'd like to point out that this is America. the beetus is a common thing as well.

OP needs to provide a timestamp, as in a picture of OP himself with the guitar, holding a hand written note with the time written on it, must be within 3 min of uploading.

No chance. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy.

Both pictures are from Jeffo46's photobucket account.

Take a little closer look at the two pictures, young one. Same case, same strap, same guitar, and yes, orvilleowner, same PB account. And two stories from the same poster about a best friend who's lost a leg to diabetes..? I don't think so. And don't forget the repeated references to the same long lost MIA Strat that started this whole tall tale.

I'll agree that it's strange. It just ain't true!

Woah, good catch Dennis.

Let's see what the OP has to say.

Jeff was from Rhode Island and OP from CT (IIRC?).

Buxom, after I had bought it back from him at that time, he later decided that he wanted to play again so I once again gave it back to him, which I did not post on here at the time. I didn't think it needed to be announced , okay ? I don't live in the past and nor do I go around making up stories . Yes, I used to be Jeffo46 on here over a year ago, but I deleted my account, due to personal reasons which I do not have to explain. My friend is indeed a amputee who is collecting disability due to losing his leg to diabetes, which is a horrible disease, which I know. I was diagnosed as diabetic over a year ago and it is no picnic . I wouldn't wish it upon anybody . As a result, I now have to watch my diet and have seen my vision slowly become worse as a result of this. Now I have had to had my eyeglass prescription updated to a much stronger one and am now taking insulin as well. So please do me a favor do not presume to judge others, okay ? Thank you.
