Alright, so this is a 1992 Fender Stratocaster.

I traded my Telecaster (which I no longer enjoyed playing) for it. I love the hell out of this guitar already. It's totally a keeper, and definitely the best playing Stratocaster I've ever played.

The only major issue with it is the block, which is cracked in a few places, but still functional. I'm going down to my local music shop this weekend and I'm gonna talk with the tech there.

It has a neck similar to an Ibanez, surprisingly, and a nice, flat radius. The frets are in amazing condition as well.

The body is beat to hell, but the guy that had it before me gigged it for well over 10 years. There's a literal chunk missing out of the top horn. The neck has several grooves worn into the back of it, from rings/hands/etc, but the lacquer remains unbroken.

The red button of death is a spring loaded kill switch, which I strangely like. It's put in place of the 3rd pot, but the guy said it was still wired in place and functional, so I'm thinking of drilling another hole, moving the original pot back, and leaving the kill switch. I originally thought it was a blender push/pull because of the way he described it in the email.

The pickups are incredible on this thing, no mud at all, even with everything at 10, on par with the Guild's.

Now, I'm debating on replacing the original pickguard with a black one so it matches the Guild, and maybe also being a tribute to Johnny's colors. I normally don't like white/white, but it's kind of growing on me. I'll see after the next week or so.

This was absolutely a good decision on my part, and I see this guitar staying in my arsenal for the foreseeable future.

HAPPY 4TH, I KNOW MINE WAS!

freakin' sweet, James. More pics! I recently took the neck pickup out of my strat, and can now use the selector switch as kind of a kill switch. it's a little awkward, i guess, but i like it. I wouldn't change a thing about that guitar, it looks awesome as is.

I kind of want access to the second tone pot, though.

Congrats on the new Strat, that's the kind of Strat that I go for and that's the kind of relic-ing that I am in favour of too, good old-fashioned gigging and honest wear and tear from late nights in dusky smoke-filled rooms with booze filled patrons. It has the same colour pattern as my Jimmie Vaughn Strat so you know that I give it a thumbs up.

I'm not sure where I'd put the killswitch exactly.

Nice Stratocaster! Is it MIJ? Looks to have the 12th fret markers set wide like the MIJ guitars.

MIK, actually. Just as good as any MIJ I've ever played, actually.

I assume by block you mean the trem block. A number of members swear by this block. Scroll down a few items.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'll just use the current block. It works fairly well.
