I am very disappointed to not be able to take advantage of the Summer Sonic Boom rebate program. I have been looking at the Fender American Special Precision Bass for several months and just about ready to purchase. The prices shown by major dealers, such as Musician's Friend, Guitar Center and Sweetwater Sound have all been running $899.99 with free shipping. It seems to me that with the Summer Sonic Boom rebate of $100, my price should now be $799.99. NO! Now the dealers show that the price "was 999.99" and with the instant $100 rebate, the price is now $899.99. That's the same price!

Am I missing something? According to the Fender Summer Sonic Boom terms and conditions, "This offer is for end-user customers only. Reseller, governmental, institutional, distributor, dealer and nonprofit organizational purchases do not qualify."

The $799.99 sale price is a deal breaker. Why aren't the dealers selling at $799.99?

$899.99 is the discounted price. They already add it in on the web page. The bass is normally $999.99, so that's $100 knocked off.

Guess it really depends on what Fenders RRP is. If the dealers had already placed their own discount a further $100 may fall below their profit margins.

The websites I have been watching have showed the price as $899.99 with free shipping. That's before Fender started the Summer Sonic Boom. Now Fender is offering the Summer Sonic Boom rebate of $100. The same websites that showed a price of $899.99 are now showing "was $999.99" with an instant rebate price of $899.99. That's still the same price.

I got my Modern Player Jaguar during such a sale last year. I love the guitar. Normally sells for 399 and I got it for 349. This year I notice that the beginning point is 449. So the 399 guitars are not part of the deal. The nickels and dimes add up for the bean counters and shareholders. A pox upon their houses. :D
