I made a deal with this cat out of Boston this morning for a absolutely Mint condition, USA made , Fender Studio 85 Combo amp. He had been posting it on Craig's List for the last week and was only asking $120.00 for it, but was willing to swap for a Peavey amp, most preferably a Bandit. I contacted him and asked him if there were any issues with it . He emailed me back some photos of it and my jaw hit the floor . I couldn't believe he was only asking $120.00 for it. We spoke on the phone and I told him that my Bandit was a 1989 model with no issues at all and that I would definitely be willing to do a trade. He made the drive from Boston to my home here on the R.I. /Mass border within 45 minutes and after we both tried out each others amps, a deal was made. I just got done playing it after spraying some contact cleaner in the chassis ,which is something I always do whenever I come across a amp of this vintage . When my wife gets home this Saturday from her sister's in Utah , I will be able to get the camera from her so I can take some photos and post them on here for everybody to see this great sounding amp from Fender's past.

Here's a photo of it . I was able to borrow my neighbor's camera and take a quick photo just so I could post it on here. I'm aware of the rule " No photo or it didn't happen ! " LOL. Enjoy.

I just got the manual and the schematics today from Fender . Even though it says 200 watts on the back of the amp, the actual output is 65 watts according to the manual . I ordered a new Fender single button footswitch yesterday from Guitar Center for it, which should be in by the end of the week.

Nice! I almost went for a 90's red dial Princeton Chorus solid state amp two weeks ago but ended up with a 12 string instead.. I like these old amps, don't ask me why but I do! :D

The "200 watts" mentioned on the rear panel refers to the amount of power the amp consumes from a wall socket.

I tell you guys , these Red Knob combos from the 80's are easily the best solid state amps that Fender has ever put out as far as SS is concerned. Nothing made ever since can touch these ,not even the so called high and mighty Mustangs .

Most times there is nothing wrong with simplicity.
Being made in America doesn't usually hurt either.
