Both are of similar value, considering mine's a parts guitar, and I keep getting lowballed by $150-$200ers, so I guess I should try it.

I may try it, and if I like it, I'm going for it.

Meh, since 1949 guitars with holes in have been ancient technology. Just that no one told Gibson.

Hey, you never know. You might like it. The cool thing about semi-hollow body guitars is you can get some wicked feedback with them, if you like to do that.

I'm just worried that it won't feel as sturdy.

My downstroke plying might undo binding.

Guy backed out. Telecaster had too much grunt for his style.

Nuh Uh...

My Heritage H-535 feels as solid as either my Tele or Strat.

Semi-hollows are very much like a solid body in that they have a solid block running the length of the body under the top. In the case of the Heritage, this is solid Mahogany. Add-in the set neck and it's rock solid !

An upside to the semi-hollow bodies is that they are much lighter than a solid body. My H-535 weighs 2 ounces less than my Strat.

The Heritage H-535 is a close cousin to Gibson's ES335. Close in that it is not an exact copy, but is better made than the Gibby w/ all-solid woods (Maple Top/Sides/Back, Honduran Mahogany Neck/Center Block, Indian Rosewood Fingerboard) as opposed to laminates on the 335. The Epi Dot is a lower-priced version of Gibson's ES335.

cheers!

Bad trade. Quality Fender wood for plywood.

A partscaster isn't that valuable.

I don't play it anymore either.

The neck was a little thick, but I did like it.

He liked my telecaster, but it just didn't fit his style.

not sure about a semi hollow, but wouldn't a Gibson type guitar be better for your style anyway?

A Dot is a Gibson type guitar. It's made by Epiphone, who is owned by Gibson, and it's supposed to be a knock-off 335.

Too bad the trade didn't work out. If you thought the neck was a little thick, maybe try a Sheraton some time. They are cool guitars, kind of looks a little like a dot, but I believe they have thinner necks. Sheratons are real Epiphones (there's no such thing as a Gibson Sheraton). Plus for added cool-factor, John Lee Hooker plays one....

Finally got a few good offers, but I found one guitar I'm really gonna try for.

I'll keep you guys posted.
