Or "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". I don't think anyone thought that a Musical revolution was starting with a Bublle-Gum Pop Hit.

I thought about Hard Days' Night too. That opening Fadd9 or G over F is amazing for the time.

It's too hard to narrow it to one--I've heard too many good songs--but I'll pick one that I keep going back to as a great song on many levels-Our Great Savior written by Rowland H. Pritchard, and performed by many--but quite wonderfully by Christopher Parkening.

'Amazing Grace' ...written way back in 1779 by John Newton

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home

Couldn't have said it better.

Whippin Post is pretty good but, I like Ramblin Man a little better.

Arguably, Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"

or Beethoven's "Ode To Joy"

or Pachebel's "Canon In D"

Sorry, modernists.

There's obviously no such thing.

You MIGHT be able to break it down into subgroups, such as "Best song ever written about a nightlight," or "Best song ever written about sharing a bed with someone you love who has really cold feet." Even then you'd likely get an argument from someone.

Gator Country - Molly Hatchet

Bringin' Sexy Back - Whoever wrote it. But the song is awesome.

Foreplay / Long time - Boston

Six - All That Remains (I like hardcore metal that I can play on the real guitar)

REDNECK - Lamb of God (hilarious music video!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQYPn_en6OU)

Sick Love Song - Motley Crue

Man I could go on forever, there are some good songs out there.

My personal favorite song ever written is Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love", but Dylan's musicial genius in "Like a Rolling Stone" is no doubt amazing. :D

I couldn't pick a real favorite, but one of my favorites is Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix. I love the feeling in that song.

As a whole, I think Bach's Brandenburg Concerto's are just about the pinnicle of music as an art.
