I love Punk Rock for its energy content.
To me personally, it has a therapeutic virtue.
Later on I fell in love with Pixies, which isn´t punk really,
but in my view carries that kind of energy into a domain where
lyrics do matter.
Here´s Bowie speaking about them,

And a little Frank Black, who sort of turned me away from
Heavy Metal and into other forms,

Listen to Too Tough To Die (whole album in one sitting) and tell me you don't feel something.

I love the Ramones. I remember when the first album came out and I heard it being play on a local college station. The music being played on all the popular radio stations back then was what I would call bubble gum music. The great music from the late 60's were was gone. The Ramones album was something new, it was different, it was raw and loud. As cheap as it was to make that album it was 1 of the best sounding punk albums from it's time.

I like all RAMONES stuff!

The first time I saw them was in 1986 . . . And the last time was in 1996.
I wish they were still around.

I saw the Ramones, at the now defunct Max's Kansas City. They had just gotten signed. Blondie opened for them, a great set, and were not signed yet. The Ramones set was amazing.

David Johansen, NY Dolls lead singer, (not Buster Poindexter yet) asked me for a cigarette during Blondies set,(talking during a Ramones set was impossible because of the volume) told him I did not smoke. I reminded him of this when I saw him years later at a health food store in Woodstock, NY. He was quiet for a second, recalling those crazy days, and then laughed very loud and said to me, "And we're both still alive too!"

Wow Modwiz . . . . the fact that you were around and been in Max's Kansas City says a lot. Before the tragic September 11th event, I had a chance to visit CBGB's as a tourist.
I got a CBGB's shirt . .. Even though it might have been made in Bangladesh...LOL.
Later I found out you can buy the same shirt at the mall near my house.

Buxom.....The one prize treasure I have is my RAMONES "Road to Run" album signed by Joey himself.

Every time I think Ramones...I hear that 40 second Motorhead tribute song in my mind. It's so odd. It's just Lemmy grunting a couple versus, with RAMOANS, RAMOWENS! as a chorus. That Lemmy....

That was a song written by The Ramones at the end of their career. It was on the unreleased tracks compilation.

I have played at Max's Kansas City and CBGB's. I can't remember the name of the group I played with. I do remember that was the night I got my Acoustic 370 amp head stolen. That's what I get for paying too much attention to the Playboy bunny who was going to be taking me home that night. I wish I had let my friend take my amp home like he offered. Drunk and full of lust, I screwed up big time.

I played CBGB's with Oedipus Next. I have some of that music at my Reverbnation site and soundcloud. However, those live recordings were done in Woodstock, NY. At the now defunct Tinker Street Cafe. Got to play Sea Cruise with Ian Paice at an open mike night there. Hung out with Roger Glover at the bar. Good guy. They were in town recording at the Bearsville Studio started by Todd Rundgren.

OK. Enough with gratuitous name dropping. Until another time, that is.

I remember seeing many bands both at Max's Kansas City and CBGB's way back. MKC was a much nicer looking place but I never liked the sound system there. Now CBGB's had the total opposite look but nothing could beat the sound inside of CBGB's. Bands sounded amazing playing inside CBGB's. As long as you didn't have to use the rest rooms downstairs in the basement  as any of you that have been in the club would know about.
