You are very welcome! In answer to your first question, priceless!
The diamond symbol has significance that a member here on the Forum can tell you, I would but do not know for sure.
I wasn't at Monterey, I was playing with the Ravens that summer. I did see the Jimi Hendrix Experience in September of 1968 at the Hollywood Bowl and they were great!

That's a beauty,I wonder if they'll ever make mirror images of that from a lefty guitar so right-handed players could play the guitar flipped as Jimi did.I made my own Monterey Jimi Tribute guitar out of a lefty Strat but it's a mirror image of the one that he played through the whole concert before he switched to the "sacrifice" Strat. It's black with a rosewood fretboard.

The Vintage Guitar Price Guide Book bases its prices on mint or near mint condition guitars with cases but after seeing your father's guitar,I can see that it's an exceptional case as there is so much case candy etc. with it, so I would go out on a limb on thinking that maybe the guide may have under-estimated in this case-the guitar is more like a museum piece-trés belle.

BTW welcome to the forum.

All 210 of the fender custom shop monterey strats were right hand guitars. But they were strung left like Hendrix use to do

Didn't he actually buy like 9 Strats at a time and often just gave them away? I think I've read that somewhere. Could be wrong, though. I think the ultimate one would have been the Gibson Strat that everyone was howling about a couple of years ago. :P The funny thing, is if any of those actually exist, they'd probably be worth some money in the future, because of their kitsch value and the fact they weren't actually mass produced.

Jimi would often go into Manny's in New York-sometimes they'd let him browse after hours-and spend hours often going through their whole inventory of Strats picking out the ones that he liked.Jimi also tried out other guitars such as Les Pauls,Epiphone Casinos and jazz boxes etc., he usually left with an enormous amount of gear.Jimi was known to gift guitars to underprivileged kids that he took a liking to and recognized a passion for music in them.He also gave guitars to young musicians who impressed him as he did with the 16 year old lead guitarist of a group called The Moving Sidewalk who really impressed him when they opened for him in a Dallas-or somewhere in Texas-concert.The pink Strat is still in the possession of that guitarist who still is a great lead player but he plays with a different band that you may have heard of: ZZ Top.

The fact that Jimi gave away so many guitars just adds to the confusion that surrounds the verification of guitars that turn up every now and then and are said to be guitars that belonged to Jimi, their provenance is almost impossible to trace or prove unless the serial numbers were recorded or there is photographic evidence so that wood grains etc. could be compared.

Nobody here can tell you what this guitar is worth since they are not in the market for one like this. If my opinion mattered then this guitar would be worth around $300 to $400. "Custom Shop" is an overpriced shop selling guitars that are worth no more than a non-Custom Shop guitar. They value hype. The guitar in question does not look like the guitar Jimi played at Monterey.
To know your guitar's value put it up for auction on eBay. Start the bidding at $1. At the end of the auction you will have your answer. There are no guitars since 1970 that were mass-produced that will increase in value. Most players could not tell the difference between the Made in Mexico or USA Strat just by playing it. 1950's Strats are over-valued and anyone who paid $50 grand for one will ever see a profit from it. The prices went up out of sentimentality not because Strats had some unique features that cannot be duplicated. I was offered a 1957 model in 1974 for $75.00. It did not have 75 cents. I did tell a guitarist I met later about it and he snagged it up. Someone else snagged it a few years later for free off the stage where my friend left it during a break.
The first year or two Strats were made are the best ones as they had had lightweight swamp ash bodies and the pickups were made from better magnets. But pickups deteriorate like anything else. Custom Shop reissue pickups are excellent but cost $50 each or more. Made in Mexico pickups are fine but a used set may go for $10.
To buy a collector quality instrument of any make at a garage sale price would involve a seller not knowing what they have. Those people do not exist and actually many think just because something is old it is priceless even if it was junk to begin with. If Jimi signed a Strat or even a Kay guitar you own then you have something. Dweezil took the burned Jimi guitar his father owned and absolutely destroyed it! He had it repaired which I cannot think of anything more stupid at the moment. Dweezil grew up in the midst of rock memorabilia so it means nothing to him unlike you or me. We see through different eyes. Dweezil tried selling that guitar for one million. He is still the owner. If he had left it alone then he might have gotten a million dollars.

I also had a question. On the custom shop v on the headstock it has a diamond in it. Does that make any difference from the ones without?

I know that certain USA Z6 serial "Anniversary" models in 2006 got a Fender 60th anniversary headstock ribbon with a diamond in the center. Like this:

I have no idea otherwise about factory original diamonds on Fender headstocks. I'm not a real Custom Shop expert though. Might be worth checking with them via one of the Consumer Relations channels.

Wowzer! Congrats on the most bizarre first post EVER for a new FF member! KUDOS! There's a little bit of truth in it, a little bit of opinion and just enough misinformation to elicit a few chuckles here. Well done!
