Not sure if anybody has asked this question before but does Fender have any plans for a solar powered amp or even a wind turbine one. It seems like a good selling point.

Interesting concept. Reply from the audience, not Fender Corporate.

'Been following this whole green movement since first Earth Day; 'had a 250-series Organic Chemistry professor who was a decades ahead of his time environmentalist. From what has been learned:

Likely we will see in the near future, 18 V battery amps which can be driven from a portable (briefcase-size) solar-collecting device which charges the integral master battery and has outlet jacks.

Another to-come energy-providing gizmo will be a dynamo attached to your exercise bike which will charge a battery.

Neither of these will deliver the kind of power to drive a Twin Reverb for a twenty-song set, more likely a 1-8" "Solar Champ" for some fun on the patio.

There will likely be small wind-powered devices similar to the above, so it's going to be interesting times coming.

Out of curiosity, how much would that cost? I know it is a good idea environmentally, but let's face it, a lot of companies only care about one kind of green. Not to say Fender is like that of course, but I am just curious to know what it would take to get that done.

If any amp is plugged into a home of any other building that is running on energy from Solar Panels or a Windmill then it is already happening.

I think a solar powered amp would be nifty for the beach or camping trip but I think it would get purchested more for the same reason guys went to anti-war rallies than for environmental reasons.
Way to go Chet!

I guess I didn't think about that. I was really referring to the battery pack thing he mentioned.
