Is this something Fender just started doing or have these always been available?

Yep, that all looks new to me, but I have to say, from looking at the pricing...

I'll just buy the whole new guitar, probably cheaper in the long run.

Looks new to me too. For as long as I can remember, the only way to get a genuine Fender neck was a replacement under warranty.

As for the pricing, isn't it rather odd the manufacturer's suggested retail price is $700 and that the same manufacturer will sell direct for $500. :?

    Cheers!

$500 a go isn't undercutting ebay prices. Wonder if it is anything to do with market pressure?

I could see the potential with these, especially if you have other guitars/parts lying around. You could put together some Frankenstein creations.

I'm loving this.

i was kicking around getting mighty might body to replace my ash body since its a frankenstrat that i built years ago and totally effed up on the body. The pre drilled Bridge holes are very appealing to me. Thanks Fender!

That's a lot of money for a Neck Decal. Maybe I'll just stick with a Lic. replacement.

No offset bodies or necks. :( But the 'how to' videos look very useful.

Maybe just the start of something? Not much choice for neck shape.

Replacement bodies and necks were offered for many years (even shown in Fender's Frontline catalog) until they were discontinued around 2002. The availability of these parts is nothing new.

This is the 1st time I've ever seen this on the website. I've known that there are dealers on E-Bay who'll take new guitars and part them out and sell them like that.

That's correct. I'm fuzzy on when they stopped the last time myself, but it went on for a few years then poof! I thought it was later, about 2003 or 2004 but 2002 could be right. Time flies and marches on and all that. I think they were logoed as genuine Fender replacements back then with a stamp sort of like a custom shop stamp but on the neck paddle and body neck pocket.
